Kulaura Welfare Association formed UK new committee recently. After an meeting association leaders formed committee. The first phase of the meeting chaired by Atikur Rahman Junel, President of Kulaura Welfare Association and presented by Shahed Uddin Chowdhury, General Secretary of Kulaura Welfare Association. In this discussion meeting Rejaul Haider Raju, Jahangir Alom Sahjahan, Abdur Rahman, Kamal Ahmed, Sozibur Rahma, I,tiaz Ahmed Rana, Akmol Husen Juel, Jillur Rahman Rowson, Koyes Ahmed, Mostafa Mahmud, Nazrul Islam Khan, Saifur Rahman Rabin, Selim Ahmed, Tajul Islam, Abdul Karim Nipu, Saiful Islam Khan, Muhibul Hague, Bablu Rahman, Nabab Ali, Ahsan Nippon, Syed Fayjul Islam, Abdul Ahad Jamal Ahmed Rubel, Abdul Mumit Mukter, Oliur rahman chowdhury Fahim, Towhidul Arfin Ruhel, Alim uddin Ali, Bodrul Haque Tuhin and Shahin Ahmed attended. In the 2nd session chaired by the Chief Election Commissioner Shorifuzzaman Chowdhury Topon and Election Commissioners Jahangir Alam Shahjahan and Abdur Rahman, jointly moderated the meeting. After long discussion and negotiations Rajaul Haider Raju was selected President of the Association, Senior Vice-president Imtiaz Ahmed Rana, Nazrul Islam Khan got General Secretary, Treasurer Oliur Rahman Chowdhury Fahim, Organizing Secretary Tohidul Arfin Ruhel for the next two years. Chief Election Commissioner Shorifuzzaman Chowdhury Topon announced the committee.
VGF rice distributed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Rice distribution activity under Vulnerable Group Feeding (VGF) programme to the distressed and the ultra poor of the district has been progressing fast for a week on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr. District relief and rehabilitation office sources said the government has allocated 3,280 tonnes of rice for distribution among 1, 64, 035 VGF card holders of seven upazilas and three pourasabhas in the district before the holy Eid. Each of the beneficiaries is getting 20-Kg of rice so that they would celebrate the forthcoming Eid-ul-Fitr, one of the biggest religious festivals for the Muslims, without food crisis, said district relief and rehabilitation officer M Habibur Rahman. Deputy commissioner M Abdus Samad said instructions were given to the Upazila Nirbahi Officers (UNOs) along with project implementation officers (PIOs) to distribute the rice to the beneficiaries smoothly within very short time, reports BSS.
Truck driver killed in Habiganj road crash
HABIGANJ: A truck driver was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Sadarghat Natunbazar on the Dhaka-Sylhet highway under Nabiganj upazila of the district yesterday morning.
The deceased was Azizul Islam, son of Abdul Kuddus of Companiganj upazila in Noakhali district.
Police said the accident occurred when a rock-laden truck collided head-on with another truck in the area at about 7 am, leaving truck driver Azizul dead on the spot and three others injured.
The injured were sent to local hospital, reports BSS.
Woman killed in road mishap in Fakirhat

An unidentified woman (20/22) met her tragic end when she was killed in a road mishap took place on Dhaka-Khulna via- Mawa Highway at Biswaroader Moor near at Fakirhat Bazar under Fakirhat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Tuesday at noon. It is learnt that the ill-fated woman was going else where as a co-rider of a motor cycle through the highway and when they reached the place of occurrence the motor cycle tried to cross a peed breaker, but it dashed with the breaker. As a result, she fell from the motor cycle on the road and at the same time she was run over by a loaded truck that was behind the motor cycle and she was killed on the spot. Then the motor cyclist took the dead body to Fakirhat Upazila Health Complex and fled away leaving the same there. In this connection a case was registered with Katakhali Highway PS (under Fakirhat Upaziala). The woman was in semi fair complexion and she clad a black burkha. Later the dead body was sent to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital for its autopsy on the same day at night.
