Unfair distribution of rice protested at Banaripara

The destitute VGD card holders and the fishermen protested against unfair distribution of rice at Banaripara in Barisal district on Sunday. About 200 fishermen brought out a procession and demonstrated in front of the UNO office, demanding trial of Syedkathi UP Secretary Binoy Bhushan and submitted a written complaint with UNO Md. Shahidul Islam. At that time, Syedkathi UP Chairman Abul Hasan Bali, Awami League leader Mithu Gharami, newly elected UP member Anowar Hossain and Paniruzzaman were present. Upazila Awami League President Golam Saleh Manju, who was present on the occasion, called upon the UNO to take lawful action through fair investigation. The protesters then went to the local than and lodged the same complaint with the OC. It has been reported that the accused UP secretary distributed 35 kilograms of rice instead of allocated 40 kgs per head on Tuesday among the fishermen. He again distributed 112 kilograms of rice per head instead of 120 kgs among the VGD card holders. The UNO receiving the complaint asked the Upazila Fishery and Women Affairs Officer to hold an enquiry and submit a report.

UP employee crushed under truck in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: A Union Parishad (UP) secretary was killed as a truck ran over him at Chaklahat UP in Sadar upazila on Sunday evening. The deceased was identified as Md Kabul Hossain, 39, a resident of Daulatpara village of Tetulia upazila. Md Forhad Hossain, chairman of Chaklahat UP said, Kabul was supervising the unloading of VGF rice from the truck at the UP office premises around 7.30pm. Suddenly, as the truck went back, Kabul was crushed under the truck. Critically injured, he was rushed to Panchagarh Adhunik Sadar Hospital where doctor declared him dead, reports UNB.
Training on graphic design continues in Gaibandha

A month long training on graphic design for the women and the entrepreneurs has been continuing at the computer lab of PTI of the town here to create freelancers aimed at earning remittance through outsourcing. A2i programme of PM office, GoB, BWIT and SME Foundation have jointly arranged the training in cooperation with district administration under Women ICT Freelancer and Entrepreneurs Development Programme. The objective of the training is to acquire knowledge and to involve the trainees in freelancing activity to earn money from abroad through outsourcing to change their lots economically and strengthen the country’s economy. Trainers-Helal Uddin, Ziaul Haque, Shanewaz Mukul and M. Shahanur led by chief trainer while M. Abdullah are conducting the training sessions as the resource persons. Earlier, deputy commissioner M. Abdus Samad formally inaugurated the training on June 16 as the chief guest and additional deputy commissioner (Gen) M. Shamsul Azam was present as the special guest while PTI super Begum Shamsea Akter in the chair. A total of 20 women and entrepreneurs are taking part in the training, said assistant commissioner (ICT) of DC office M. Musabbirul Islam. Similar training for other 20 women and entrepreneurs of the district has also been continuing at the conference room of Sadar UNO of the town here under the programme, he also said.
5 robbers held in Sylhet

At least five robbers were arrested with local arms on Saturday Night in Sylhet districts. The arrested robber was identified as Bodrul 30, Illias 48, Kotub 30, Tajul 36 & Raju 27. Police said, the gang, coming by a house of Loxmipur village in Dakshin Surma Upazila Later, Rab put barricade on the road and arrested the five along with the 11 booties. They also recovered 2 sharp weapons. The arrestee was sent to the jail hajat after Dakshin Surma police produced him before a Sylhet court.
RAB arrested counselor, recovered arms,ammo drugs, money

 Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) arrested three criminals including a counselor and recovered a firearm, bullets verities of drugs and cash taka detained three alleged criminals from Adarshapara under Kotchandpur municipality in Jhenidah yesterday . The arrested were identified as Rezaul Islam Pathan, counselor of Kotchandpur pouroshova and his two gang members Milon Hossain and Modhu. Commander of RAB-6 Monir Ahammed said, informed from secret sources RAB members raided the house of Rezaul Pathan today very first morning. Later we arrested Rezaul and others from the house and recovered a revolver, 40 round bullets, a set of police dress, 70 pieces yaba, 12 bottles phensidyl, 5 sharp weapons Hasua, Chinese axe and cash taka one lakh nineteen thousand. They were trying to get prepare to creating anarchy in the area. Later police sent them to sadar thana.
