One electrocuted in Munshiganj

A tailor was electrocuted at Sipahipara area under sadar upazila of the district on Tuesday. The deceased was identified as Alamgir Hossain, 20. Police and local sources said Alamgir was electrocuted when he ncame in touch with a live electric wire.Locals rushed him to Munshiganj general hospital where on duty doctors declared him dead.
BGB seizes huge Indian goods

Members of 26 Border Guard Battalion, in separate raids, seized Indian smuggled goods worth around Tk 4.5 coroe conductig drives at Nabharan, Natunhat and Benapole commuter train on Tuesday and earlier, Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer told New Nation. The goods include fire crackers, clothes, body spray, skin whitening cream, imitation ornaments, medical kits, motor parts, motorbike parts and mobile phone sets. The goods were deposited to Jessore customs, the BGB CO added.
Construction of two bridges completed in Jamalpur
Jamalpur: Construction work of two bridges on the Brahmaputra river in Islampur upazila of the district has been completed and it would be opened for vehicular movement very soon. Local Government and Engineering Department (LGED) implemented the construction work of the bridges spending Taka over 200 crore. The department constructed 560 metres long bridge in Piling Ghat area spending Taka 99.76 and 560 metres long bridge in Dapholapara Ghat area spending Taka 104.41 crore. Assistant engineer of LGED Mirza Taherul Haque said after completing the construction work of the bridges, work of making approach road is being continued. He also said the bridges will be opened for communication for people by December. Local Lawmaker Alhaj Faridul Haque Khan Dulal said after opening the bridges a large number of people in six remote unions of the upazila will come under direct communication network with Jamalpur and Sherpur district, reprorts BSS.
‘Robber’ injured in Joypurhat ‘gunfight’
JOYPURHAT : An alleged robber was injured in a ‘gunfight’ between his associates and police at Shimultali on the Joypurhat-Hili road in Panchbibi upazila early Thursday. The injured was identified as Sanwar Hossain, son of Meser Ali, a resident of Binshira village of the upazila. Ashraful Islam, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station, said tipped off that Sanwar and his gang were taking preparation for robbery in the area, a team of police conducted a drive there at about 1:30am. Sensing the presence of law enforcers, the robber gang opened fire at them, prompting them to fire back, triggering a gunfight. Sanwar was caught in the line of fire and injured while other members of his gang managed to escape. Police arrested him from the spot, reports UNB.
Fugitive convict held in C’nawabganj

A fugitive convict, sentenced to four years’ imprisonment in a theft case, was arrested from Kansat Bazar area in Shibganj upazila on Wednesday. The arrestee was identified as Abul Kashem,45, son of Lutfar Haque, a resident of Raninagar village of the upazila. Sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station Shah Alam said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Kashem in the afternoon.
