Robbers loot cash, gold in Bhangura

A robbery was committed in the house of Gopendro Nath Voumik of Hindu village Mismethuir under Khanmorich Union in Bhangura Upazila district Pabna on Saturday midnight. The gang of the robbers numbering about 15 equipped with sharp weapons and a pipe-gans broke down the door of the house and looted cash and gold. Gourango Voumik (31) son of Gopendra Nath said that finding no other way and for fear of life, he came out of the room and handed over to the robbers cash 1.20 lakh and about 75 grams of gold jewelry. Gourango Voumik also said that he was scheduled to go to Dhaka on Sunday morning for treatment of his daughter. For the purpose of treatment he keept the cash money at home. Any members of the robbers might have known about this and committed robbery. He did not recognise anyone as all members of robbers took on masks . SI Zahid , Acting police officer of Bhangura thana visited the spot on Sunday and confirmed the incident.
One held for killing rival BCL activist in Barisal

Zahid Hossain, a BCL activist was arrested as an accused in killing rival BCL activist Rezaul Karim Reza of Barisal polytechnic institute.Reza, a follower of district BCL president Abdur Razzak, was chopped to death by rival faction , followers of city BCL president Jasimuddin, at the gate of Barisal government polytechnic institute on May 29 night. Seven other BCL activists were also injured in that incident and two of them sent to Dhaka in critical condition. After that a murder case was lodged in this connection with Barisal Kotwali police station by Riazul Islam, brother of Reza against 20 accused including 14 BCL activist by-name with city BCL president Jasimuddin. Azad Rahman, assistant commissioner of Barisal Metropolitan Police, said Zahid, the number-2 accused of the case, was arrested from Badda area of Dhaka on Friday night and sent to Barisal on Saturday morning. After that Barisal police with Zahid went to recover weapons used in killing Reza. On Saturday afternoon police succeeded to recover a sharp weapon used in killing from a ditch behind the house of another accused Mehedi. Till this report two of the by-name 14 accused for killing Reza were arrested, police sources said.
Fire fighter electrocuted in Jhenaidah

A fire service worker was electrocuted at Dudsharapara under Kotchandpur upazila of the district on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Milon Hossain, 28, son of Bulbul Haque of Raghunathpur village under Kaliganj upazila in Jhenaidah. He lived in a rented house at Kotchandpur upazila town. Kotchandpur Fire service station worker Yasir Arafat said, that Milon went to take bath from a tube well which was connected with live electric wire on Sunday morning. He rushed to Kotchandpur upazila health complex where the attending physician declared him dead. Officer in charge Kotchandpur police station .
Lightning kills one in Tangail

An elderly man was killed by lightening in Nagorpur Upazila of Tangail district recently . He is identified as Md. Nazrul Islam 80 of village Chatuajani. Tofael Ahmed, chairman of Sohbotpur UP said that the man was going to Sarangpur from his house at 12 AM. He was killed by lightening on the way.
