6 fishermen held from Sundarban

At least six fishermen were arrested by the forest guards from Chandpai Forest Range area in the Eastern Division of Sundarban on the charge of illegal intrusion in the forest and catching fish from there on Friday. In this connection a case was registered with local PS against the fishermen under Forest Act and they were sent to the court. Md. Belayet Hossain, ACF of Chandpai Forest Range said, all kinds of passes and permits were suspended in the forest for the time being after the happening of a number of fire incident took place in the forest recently. In spite of that 6 fishermen entered into the forest and were catching fish from there illegally. The forest guards arrested them along with a trawler from the river Pashur. The forest guards searched the trawler and seized four mounds of shrimps, lobsters and white fish of different spices.
Sylhet-Dhk Highway closed for 14 days for repairing work

The Sylhet Roads and Highways authority on Friday closed the Sylhet-Dhaka highway for 14 days for urgent repair work of Sherpur Bridge. A notice signed by Monirul Islam, executive engineer of Sylhet Roads and Highways, was issued regarding the closure from 6:00am yesterday to 6:00am on June 22. The authority requested vehicles to take Rajnagar-Shreemangal-Fenchuganj road as alternative direction.
One held with contraband drugs in Pirojpur
PIROJPUR: Police in a drive arrested a drug peddler and seized 20 pieces of yaba tablets and 150 grams ganja from his possession at north Gazipur area under sadar upazila of the district on Friday. The arrestee was identified as Aual Kholifa son of Afzal Kholifa of sadar upazila. Officer in charge of sadar police SM Masuduzzaman said on secret information, a team of police raided the area and arrested him with the drugs. A case was filed with Gazipur sadar upazila in this connection, reports BSS.
One held with Tk 26 lakh hundi in Jessore

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) detained an alleged hundi trader with Taka 26 lakh at Amrakhali check-post under Benapole Port Police station of Jessore district on Friday evening. The arrestee was identified as Eanur Rahman, 28, son of Hatem Ali, a resident of Rampur village in Sharsha upazila. BGB-26 battalion company commander Subeder Giasuddin said, on information, the BGB personnel raided the area and arrested the young man with Taka 26 lakh hundi money. The arrested man was handed over to Benapole Port Police station, he added. A case was recorded with the concerned police station in this connection.
3 held with Yaba pills in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI: Police arrested three people, including a woman, along with 300 pieces of Yaba tablet from Bianabona area in Godagari upazila on Friday. The arrestees were identified as Farida Begum,45, wife of Abdus Salam of Bianabona village, Yeasin Ali,26, son of Sazzad Ali alias Bizol of Nilbona village of Godagari upazila, and Humayun Kabir,25, son of Gazlur Rahman of Gohomabona village in Poba upazila. Officer-in-charge of Godagari Police Station SM Abu Farhad said tipped off, a team of police conducted a raid on the house of Farida Begum in the area and arrested her along with Yeasin and Humayun Kabir at about 6:00pm, reports UNB.
