3 Shibir activists arrested in Barisal

Detective branch of Barisal Metropolitan police on Tuesday noon arrested three activists of Islami Chhatra Shibir, student front of Jamat E Islami Bangladesh, during distributing leaflets protesting trial and punishment of JIB war criminals.Abu Sayeed Khan, assistant commissioner of DB and spokesman of BMP, said Mizanur Rahman, student of Social Science department, Imran Hossain and Mushfikur Rahman, students of Political Science department of Barisal Govt. Brojo Mohun College. They were ICS activists and arrested them Puran Para area of the city at about 2:00 PM Tuesday while distributing leaflets protesting trial and punishment of JIB war criminals including recently executed JIB leader Matiur Rahman Nizami, police sources said. The arrestees were wanted in cases lodged earlier and so sent to jail after producing before the court on Tuesday evening, police added.
College student electrocuted in Fakirhat

A college student was electrocuted at Dahore Mouvag village under Fakirhat upazila of the district on Thursday. The victim was identified as Shimul Roy, 22, a student Khulna Sundabans Government College and son of Banomali roy, a resident of the same area. Police said Shimul died on the spot as he came in contact with a live electric wire while he was repairing an electric line of his house.
Couple killed in Sylhet road accident

A couple was killed and their daughter injured as a private car collided head on with a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Tilagorh area in the city on Tuesday morning. The deceased were identified as Arijit Das, 45, administrative officer of Scholars’ Home School and College, and his wife Sumita Das, 38, head teacher of Mahalaxmi Government Primary School. They used to live in Nipobon residential area in the city. Additional Deputy Commissioner (Media) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP) M Rahamatullah said the accident occurred when a private car collided head on with a CNG-run auto rickshaw near MC College field of the area at about 9 am, leaving CNG passenger Arijit dead on the spot and his wife and daughter injured. Injured Sumita and her daughter Sneha were admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where Sumita succumbed to her injuries.

Three gets jail for taking drugs in Dinajpur
DINAJPUR: A mobile court here today sentenced three persons to six months imprisonment for taking drugs in Birampur upazila of the district. The convicts are Jahurul, 25, Sahid, 25, and Miru, 22, residents of Debipur village of the upazila. Local people caught the trio red handed while they were taking yaba tablets in Ghatpara area of the upazila this noon and handed them over to police, police sources said, reports BSS.
