A workshop on agricultural extension support activity organized by USAID was held at RAC Centre, Jessore on Friday. The workshop organized by Dhaka Ahsania Mission was attended by deputy directors of the department of agricultural extension, officials and other concerned people. Chaitanya Kumar Das, director, field service wing, DAE, Dhaka was the chief guest in the workshop. Chaired by Chandi Das Kundu, additional director, DAE, Jessore region, the workshop was attended among others by Bidyuth Kumar Mahalder, chief of party, agricultural extension support activity, Jakir Hossain, deputy director, DAE, Dhaka and deputy directors of DAE of 12 districts. The workshop was informed that the project is being implemented by Dhaka Ahsania Mission having technical support by CARE Bangladesh and mPpower at 26 upazilas in 12 districts across the country to support the farmers technically.
SCC fixes red meat prices ahead of Ramzan

The Sylhet City Corporation (SCC) on Thursday fixed the maximum price of per kg beef at Tk 400 and buffalo meat at Tk 400 ahead of holy Ramadan. The SCC authorities also fixed the prices of mutton at Tk 500 per kg and lamb at Tk 450. SSC Chief excutive Anamul Habib made the decision at a views-exchange meeting with meat traders. The SSC Chief excutive said that the newly fixed prices would remain in effect from the 1st Ramadan to 26th Ramzan He urged the meat traders to maintain the standard of the red meat.
14 sand miners fined, jailed in Tangail

A mobile court raided seven sand beds in Bhuapur Upazila and fined Tk 9.5 lakh and jailed the sand miners recently. MohiUddin Faruki, Commander of RAB-12 of Tangail said that a mobile court was conducted led by Executive Magistrate Kaiser Khoshru and RAB Commander MohiUddinFaruki. The court jailed Samad Promanik (55) and Tonku (48 ) for a period of six months and fined taka 30000 each in default to additional three months jail, fined Baharul Ali 50 taka 50000 in default to additional three months jail, jailed for six months and fined taka 20000 to Hashem Promanik 22 in default to additional three months jail, jailed for three months and fined taka 50000 in default to additional three months jail to ZakirHossain 26, Abu Bokor 38, Rashed 50, jailed for six months and fined taka 30000 in default to additional six months jail to Abu Sayed 50, Al-Amin 28, jailed for three months and fined taka one lac in default to additional six months jail to Saiful Islam 24, Ashraf Promanik 20, jailed for three months and fined taka 50000 in default to additional three months jail to Abdus Salam 50, AmjadHossin 65, jailed for six months and fined taka 30000 in default to additional six months jail to Roni Mia.
Accused held for killing of polytech BCL activist

One accused was arrested as murder case lodged after 72-hour against 20 BCL and BJL leaders and activists including city BCL president in connection of chopping one BCL leader of Barisal Polytechnic to death and injuring seven in Barisal. Ataur Rahman, Kotwali police station officer in charge, said police arrested Mehedi Hasan alias Chhoto Mehedi, one BJL activist accused in the case, from the board of Dhaka bound launch MV Kalam Khan with the help of other passengers and Ansars on duty at the launch after chasing with speed boat at mid-river about 10:30 pm on Sunday.
