Road mishap kills labourer in Chapainawabganj

A labourer was killed and 10 others were injured in a road mishap at Fulkuri area under Nachole upazila in Chapainawabganj district on Sunday morning. The deceased was identified as Mojibur Rahman, 50, son of late Entaj Ali of Ramchandrapurhat under Ranihati union of Chapainawabganj sadar upazila. Police and local sources said, Mojibur along with other labourers were going to Nachole from Ramchandrapurhat by a nasimon to work in a paddy field. As they reached Fulkuri area on the Chapainawabganj-Nachole road, the nasimon turned turtle breaking its steering wheel at around 11 am. At this all the passesngers of the nasimon were injured. They were rushed to Nachole Upazila Health Complex where Mojibur succumbed to injuries. The other injured persons took treatment at the health complex.
Traditional Horse Fair held at Phulbari

Chintaman Horse Fair, a hundred year-old fair for horse trading in Phulbari upazila under Dinajpur was held on Saturday. Hundred of colourful horses from different part of the country have been brought at the Melabari village under Phulbari upazila under Dinajpur for selling their horses. The fair began on April 26.The week long fair began usually on 13 Boishakh as per Bangla calendar, said the organizer Md. Abdur Razzak Saiyed Mehedi Hasan Rubel and Prince Babu.This year at least 500 horses put on display at their fair, he added. The horse traders who pet it for years, through the fair giving a massage to all prospective buyers that they are displaying the houses including mare at the fair so that others could know the animals were not only reared for the sake of business. It is the passion for many, added Sultan Ahamad, a horse trader of Badargarnj area under Rangpur district. Large number of horse lovers are thronging in the fair everyday either to see or to buy. ÔI came here to buy a horse, but yet to get my desired horse in last two days added Md. Abdul Mannan, came to the fair site from Kusthia district saying that he has a budget of Tk.2 lakhs.
Woman dies falling from Dartana Bridge

An unidentified woman (38) died when she fell into the river Dartana from the bridge on Bagerhat-Pirojpur Highway on Saturday night. Police and the locals said that at the night she fell into the river Daratana on the bank of which Bagerhat district town stands from Daratan bridged constructed over the river. Being informed of the matter the local people began to search her by trawlers and she was at last recovered from the river Bhairab at Panchamala village under Morrelganj Upazila in the district at the same night. She was rushed to Bagerhat Sadar Hospital in critical condition for her treatment. But she expired on the way to hospital. But it could not be ascertained whether she jumped into the river from the bridge or fell into the river from the same. After postmortem the dead body was buried in the local Govt.Sarai grave yard under the auspices of local branch of Anjuman-e-Mafidul Islam.
