3 Jamaat men held at Phulbari

At least three Jamaat men were arrested in Phulbari upazila under Dinajpur district on Thursday while pasting posters in the town demanding release of their central leaders accused of war crimes, police said. The arrested persons were identified as Md. Khobirul Islam, 50, son of late Kazimuddin, Ahsan Habib, 42, son of late Nurul Islam and Abdul Aziz Khan, 70, son of late Farman Ali Khan of Uttar Laxmipur village in Phulbari upazila under Dinajpur district. Police also seized large number of posters from them. Acting on tip off, police raided at Kalibari area in Phulbari Municipality at around 1.00am on Thursday and arrested these persons with huge posters of war crimes accused and top Jamaat leaders now in jail. Md. Rabiul Islam Khan Officer- In- Charge (OC) of Phulbari Police station confirmed it and said the arrested persons were sent to Dinajpur jail after producing them before court.
Oral saline , safe water for heat affected day-labourers distributed

Barisal district administration opened oral saline and safe water distribution camp for the heat wave affected day-labourers on Sunday. Shohidul Alam, deputy commissioner, opened the camp at Ashwini Kumar Hall premises in city center. In this camp daily at least 1,000 day labourers and heat wave affected other people will get free oral saline and safe water for drinking. This humanitarian step was taken to help the day labourers like the rickshaw pullers, hawkers, and other working class people and pedestrians suffering by the heat wave with 37-39 degree Celsius continued over the city since last fortnight without any raining, the DC Barisal told. It will continue till April 30 and will extend if heat wave without raining will continue, the DC added. He also called other people, who can afford, for such kind of humanitarian initiatives to give some relief to the heat wave sufferers. Momin Mia, a rickshaw puller, thanked the administration and Nazrul Biswas, Barisal Reporters Unity president requested the administration and people to open such kind of camps in different parts of the city.
2 crew succumbed to burn injuries

Md. Badal and Moslem, two crew of an oil tanker sustained severe burn injuries at Mongla Port on Saturday when the tanker caught fire succumbed to their injuries in burn unit of Dhaka Medical College Hospital on Sunday, according to a report received here. The port authorities of Mongla already formed a 4-men enquiry committee headed by Lt. Commander Md. Saiful Islam, chief security officer of the port in order to investigate into the fire incident and submitted a report to the port authorities within 24 hours. Captain Md. Sharif, captain of the ship and Md. Joynal Abedin, G M of the shipping company High Speed Company reached Mongla Port on Friday carrying fuel oil from Chittagong Port. After unloading the oil to Summit Refinery at Mongla the ship was waiting at a buoy in the Pashur channel of the port. But at night suddenly the engine room of the oil tanker caught fire.
