Youth held with pistol, bullets

Police arrested a young man along with a pistol, one magazine and four rounds of bullet from Panero Rashia area in Shibganj upazila early Tuesday. The arrestee was identified as Sohel Rana,22, son of Belal Maisar, a resident of the village. Mahfuz Alam, sub-inspector of Shibganj Police Station, said tipped off, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Sohel at about 2:30am. The law enforcers also recovered a pistol, one magazine and four rounds of bullet from his possession. A case was filed under the Arms Act.
Boro paddy procurement begins

The District Food Department has started procuring Boro paddy from five upazilas of the district at the rate of Taka 23 per kilogram during the current season. Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Abul Kalam Azad formally inaugurated the procurement drive at Nakla food Go-down on Monday noon in presence of the concerned food official. Addressing the procurement drive, the district food controller said a total of 148 tonnes of Boro paddy will be procured this time from different upazilas of the district. Food office sources said the Boro procurement will be continued in the district till August 31.
Beanibazar declares child marriage-free

Beanibazar upazila in Sylhet has been declared free from child marriage as the first upazila in Sylhet division. The announcement was made at a meeting held at Beanibazar upazila parishad office recently. In the meeting, Sylhet Divisional Commissioner Jamal Uddin Ahmed was the chief guest. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Joynal Abedin and Beanibazar Upazila Nirbahi Officer M Asaduzzaman were also present. During the meeting, the officials declared that no child marriage would be held in Beanibazar upazila and strict action would be taken if anyone tried to arrange child marriage in the upazila. They declared the upazila to be the pioneer of child marriage free Bangladesh.
Youth killed by train in Kulaura

 A youth was killed in a train accident at Rail crossing area under outer of Kulaura railway in Kulaura Upazila of the Moulvibazar district early Monday around 5am. The victim was identified as Dipu Miah, 18, son of Faruq Miah in Abdul Mannan, 55, in Guptagram village area under Kulaura Upazila of the Moulvibazar district. He went to bazaar to cross in the rail track with walking. Rabiul Azom, OC of Kulaura railway police station said, a Kulaura bound intercity express train from inside the station crushed him under its wheels when he was crossing the rail track at around 5 am.
View exchange meeting held

 A view exchange was arranged by Alor Dishery foundation, a voluntary organisation , of Gunaher union under Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district with chairman aspirants in an open stage of Keut bazar area yesterday . The exchanging view meeting was presided over by headmaster of Unahat Singra High School Ataur Rahman while acting upazila chairman of Dupchanchia upazila Shahkina Begum spoke as the chief guest.
