M-E peace confce in Paris delayed

A conference on the peace process between Israelis and Palestinians, due to be held on May 30 in Paris, has been postponed, French President Francois Hollande said Tuesday.
“(US Secretary of State) John Kerry cannot come on May 30 so it has been delayed. It will take place in the summer,” he told French radio.

World powers want to arm Libyan govt

World powers are ready to consider demands from Libya’s new unity government for exemptions from a United Nations arms embargo and militarily equip it in its fight against the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) and other groups. The joint decision, announced by US Secretary of State John Kerry on Monday followed a meeting in Vienna which was attended by diplomats from more than 20 countries.

Indonesia nabs 79 fishermen on board

Three Thai fishing boat captains have escaped from custody in Indonesia after their vessels were seized with dozens of trafficked foreign fishermen on board, an official said Tuesday.
The captains were detained on April 12 when they were found operating trawlers under Malaysian flags that were fishing off Kalimantan, Indonesia’s part of Borneo island, said Sumono Darwinto, chief of the local fishing office in Pontianak.
