RAB arrested two man along with 252 pieces of contraband Yaba tablets at Sylhet Railway Station on Sundaynight . “We arrested a drug peddlerHussain (20).Bilal (20) and sized 252 pieces of Yaba tablets at Sylhet Railway Station around 10am thisnight,” RAB sources said. A case was filed to this end.
Journalists formed a human chain in Cox’s Bazar

Journalists in Jessore formed a human chain in front of Jessore Press Club protesting at the attack on 6 journalists in Cox’s Bazar recently. Jewel Mridha, Jessore Correspondent, Somoy TV arranged the human where senior journalists – Fakir Shaukat, Mobinul Islam Mobin, Anwarul Kabir Nantu, Tauhidur Rahman, Monotosh Basu, Ahsan Kabir, Saifur Rahman Saif and Saiful Islam Sazal took part among others.
8 lakh shrimp fry seized in Bhola Bhola: Detectives in a drive seized 8lakh pieces of shrimp fry of lobster and prawn species from Hakim Uddin area of Burhanuddin upazila early Sunday. Police sources said a team of the Detective Branch of Police led by Sub- inspector Belayet conducted a drive in the area early in the morning and seized 31 drums containing the lobster and prawn fry. However, police could not arrest anyone in this connection, reports UNB.
Health, FP Service Week observed in Gaibandha
GAIBANDHA: Health and Family Planning Service Week-2016 at the initiative of Family Planning Department is being observed in the district from Saturday with a call to ensure health and family planning services to the people. Marking the week, the department has chalked out the elaborate programmes in all the seven upazilas of the district. The pregnant mothers are being checked up at the family welfare centres and their safety delivery and post natal care are being ensured there to reduce the mortality rate of mothers and the children. Counseling is also being conducted to the children on malnutrition and its removing and to the adolescents on personal hygiene during the period from May 14 to May 19, office sources said. Besides, motivational campaign and different camps on reduction of birth rate through providing permanent and long term method are being held in all the seven upazilas in the district during the period, sources said. The physicians and the staff of the department are providing healthcare services to the mothers, children and the adolescents properly in grass root level to build a healthy nation marking the week., reports BSS
Foundation of food godown laid
PANCHAGARH: The foundation stone of a food godown was laid at Paspir union under Boda upazila of the district yesterday afternoon. Advocate Nurul Islam Sujon, MP, formally laid down the foundation stone of food godown as the chief guest. In this connection a discussion meeting was held where Sujon spoke as the chief guest. The MP said the government has taken initiative to build more food godown throughout the country for purchasing food grain from the farmer. He said about Taka four crore will be spent to build the food godown. Boda upazila Awami League President Oahahiduzzaman Suja, UP Chairman Humayun Kabir and others spoke on the occasion. District food controller Abdul Kader presided over the meeting, reports BSS.
Six shops gutted in Tangail
TANGAIL: Six shops were gutted when a fire broke out at Bhuapur bus stand area on Friday afternoon. Eyewitness said the fire broke out in a spices crashing shops at about 1-30pm and in no time spread to different shops. It is suspected that the fire originated from an electric short circuit and spread to different shops during Jumma prayer. On receipt of information, fire fighters from Bhuapur fire station rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control, reports BSS.
