UP Chairman elected unopposed at Gafargaon.

Aftab Uddin Dhali of Awami League has been elected union parishad chairman without contest at Gafargaon under Mymensingh district on Wednesday. At the first scrutiny the nomination paper of Nuruzzaman (BNP) has been rejected on account of wrong affidavit. Only present chairman candidate Aftab Uddin Dhali (Boat) is going to be elected. Besides, on account of bankruptcy, nomination papers of seven UP members have been cancelled.
Cop-terrorist gunfight leaves 4 injured in Kaliganj

Four persons including three police men were injured in a clash between the police men and terrorist Imran Hossain Sona at Subarnasara village under Kaliganj upazila on Thursday evening. The police recovered a shutter gunn from the possession of the terrorist. Kaliganj police officer- In -Charge Anwar Hossain said, the police men conducted a drive arresting Sona, 45, son of Moula Bakhs at his village Subarbnasara in the evening. Sensing the police presence Sona swooped on the law enforcers led the clash. Police sub inspector Ashraful Alam, constable Jahidul Islam, Bipul Hossain and the terrorist Sona were injured. The police recovered a shutter gun from the possession of the arrested. The injured were rushed to Jhenaidah Sadar hospital. Sona was engaged in many crimes in the locality using his illegal fire arms for a long time, the police said.
Pedestrian killed in road accident

An unidentified pedestrian was killed on the spot as a passenger bus crushed him in Taraganj point on the Rangpur-Dinajpur Highway under Taraganj upazila here on Wednesday police said. The accident occurred when the Dinajpur-bound passenger bus from Rangpur hit the pedestrian while he was crossing the highway. Confirming the incident, Officer-in-Charge of Ekorchali Highway Thana Rabiul Hassan said the body has been sent to Rangpur Medical College Hospital for autopsy. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection with Taraganj Thana, police said.
Road accidents kill 3 in Sylhet, M’bazar

Two road accidents took three lives in Sylhet and Moulvibazar. In Sylhet, a youth named Md. Ohid Miah, 35, died as his motorbike is hit by a truck at Sylhet-Tamabil highway’s Rangpani area under Jaintapur upazila. Locals said the deceased were rushing to Jaintapur from Tamabil on a unregistered motorbike and as he saw the police set up a check post at Rangpani Bridge, he tried to escape and while escaping, the truck hit his bike and he died on spot. Shofiul Kabir, officer-in-charge of Jaintapur Police Staion said the body was recovered by the police and sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College for autopsy. In Moulvibazar, two died on a head-to-head collision between two CNG auto-rickshaws. This collision left another 3 injured. The collision took place on Tuesday at around 8pm at Bhatera area of Kulaura upazila in Moulvibazar. Sabbir Ahmed, sub-inspector of Kulaura Police Station said the deceased remain unidentified and sent to Moulvibazar Sadar Hospital for autopsy.
