Newborn found dead in Sylhet

The police recovered the body of a newborn child in Dakshin Surma Upazila Sylhet on Tuesday morning. The Mogla bazar police officer-in-charge Kairul fajal said they recovered the body, which was wrapped in a towel, near a High school at Ranga Hajigang Bazar in theDakshin Surma , being informed by local people. The body was sent to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital morgue for post-mortem examinations.
12 injured in Sylhet
Around 12 people were injured in a clash between two groups over setting up temporary shops in Register Field area of Sylhet city Tuesday. Eyewitnesses and police said an altercation ensued between supporters of deed writer Hasnat Ali and hawker Moin Uddin over the matter. Later, their supporters started clashing with sticks and sharp weapons. Police rushed in and brought the situation under control an hour later. Seven of the injured were sent to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital, three to private clinics while the rest were given first aid. OC of kotwali Police Station Suhel Ahmed Confirmed the matter.
2 arrested with drugs in Barguna

Police in a drive arrested two drug addicts from Nachonpara area in Patharghata upazila of the district on Wednesday night. The arrested persons are Mamun and Raton Kormakar. Police sources said on secret information, a team of police raided the area and arrested them with 100 gram ganja. Later, the arrested persons were produced before the court on Thursday.
Citizens committee observe sit-in demanding Jessore as division

Citizens of Jessore on Tuesday morning observed a sit-in on the premises of the office of the DC, Jessore demanding the oldest district of the county a division. Jessore Division Movement Council arranged the programme where people of all walks of life took part. Enamul Haque, convener of the council chaired a rally during the sit-in. It was addressed among others by former lawmaker Mainuddin Miazi, Rabiul Alam and Iqbal Kabir Jahid.
Youth held with Yaba in Rajshahi

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested an alleged drug-trader with 1,350 pieces of Yaba tablets from Bhatupara area under Mohanpur Upazila of the district Thursday evening, RAB sources here said yesterday. The detained person was identified as Zillur Rahman, 24, son of Almash Ali of Jaminpur village under Shibgonj Upazila of Chapainawabganj district. On a tip-off, a team of the elite force conducted a sudden raid in the area at around 7.30 pm and arrested him with the contraband item. A case was recorded with the Police Station in this connection and the seized goods and arrested person were handed over to the police..
