One killed in Kurigram road accident

A motor cyclist was killed and another person was injured in a road accident which took place at Agomoni Bazar area on Kurigram-Rangpur Highway under Kurigram Sadar upazila at noon Monday (April 18).The deceased was identified as Hasen Ali 55 and the injured is Aminul Islam member 35.Local sources said a Kurigram bound night coach coming from Dhaka knocked a motor cycle rider from behind. The motor cyclist was killed on the spot while the injured person was admitted to Kurigram Sadar Hospital. When the condition was deteriorated was shifted to Rangpur Medical College Hospital in a critical condition. The local agitated people blocked the road suspended all kinds of vehicle movement till 1 hour. Later police brought the situation under control. Officer-in-charge of Kurigram Sadar police station Jamir Uddin admitted the incident and told that the body was sent to morgue for autopsy. A case was filed in this connection in sadar thana Kurigram.
Police postponed Bangla New Year programme in Jessore

Different cultural organisations in Jessore could not be able celebrate Bangla New Year programme due to police interception on Thursday afternoon. The organization, in protest, brought out procession in the town in the evening. Sohel Hasan, additional distinct magistrate, Jessore told that the administration stopped programmes of cultural organizations for holding programmes violating government order after 5pm on Bangla New Year Day. Sammilita Sangskritik Jote, earlier announced to continue New Year Day progamme till 10pm as soon as they heard the speech of the home minister in which he asked all not to cross 5pm while celebrating New Year programme outdoors.
Woman found dead in Sylhet

The police recovered the body of a woman from her house at Shamimabad of Bagbari in Sylhet on Friday. The deceased was identified asKonika Kor, 28, wife of Moina Kor of Sylhet. Katwali Model police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Suhel Ahmed said the family alleged that the victim had mental disorder and she committed suicide by selling fan .
Schoolgirl commits suicide

A 16 year old schoolgirl committed suicide when she failed to stop the quarrel between her parents at Bankira village under Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Sunday. The deceased was Afroza Khatun, daughter of Tofazzel Hossain of Kutubpur village in same upazila. She was studying in Bankira high school staying at her grand mother’s hose due to financial crisis of her family. Sinduria police out post in charge sub inspector Kazi Bayazid said, Afroza’s parents were locked in a quarrel following the family crisis in the morning of Sunday. She tried to stop the quarrel time and again and failed. At last she swallowed pesticides.
Local people sent her to a local physician Shahjahan where he declared Afroza dead. An unnatural death case was filed with Chuadanga police in this connection.
