Pakistani gangsters today killed six policemen and took hostage 24 people, including police, during a raid to clear an island hideout in the south of prosperous Punjab province, authorities said. The operation to flush out the gangsters entered its ninth day as 1,600 security officials, including police officials and paramilitary Rangers, battled for control of the island in Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s power base of Punjab.
Delhi starts restricting cars to clear air

The New Delhi government on Friday began a second round of a two-week car restriction to reduce air pollution that has made the Indian capital the world’s most polluted city.
The city’s top elected official Arvind Kejriwal said private cars will be allowed on the streets on alternate days from Friday until April 30 based on even or odd license plate numbers.
