Two fake business centres fined, sealed in Jhenaidah

A mobile court in Jhenaidah have fined Taka 15 thousand and closed two fake business centres at Arappur in the municipal area on Sunday afternoon as they were allegedly running the trade without valid license for a long time. The business centres are India Herbal Limited and Dental Care Room. Executive Magistrate Sohel Sultan Julker Nayeen conducted the drive at about 5.30 PM on the day. Drug Superintendent of the Drug Administration in Jhenaidah Nazmul Hasan said, the two business centres in the name of herbal treatment had been cheating the common people for past years. They did not have any legal license and relevant documents for running the trade. Biswajit Chakravarty, the owner of India Herbal was fined Taka 10 thousand, in deafult he will have to suffer for eight days in prison, while the owner of Dental Care Room Fazer Ali was fined for Taka five thousand. Other wise he will have to enjoy 3 days in prison. Later the business centres were closed. THe mobile court destroyed drugs for at least Taka 20 thousand during the drive, the Drug Super said.
Cultural programme held in Phulbari

A cultural programme was held at Senora Aladipur Union of Phulbari Upazila on Saturday night. The programme was organised by Bohubrihy and supported by the European Union and Help Age International Bangladesh . In the programme a physically challenged cultural activists presented music and drama to the audience. Speakers said that the government as well as private enterprise is working to ensure the health of the elderly people. Most of the elders admitted that diabetes and diabetes rates are increasing . However, controlling of diabetes is possible . It was attended by Aladipur Uninor Chairman Muzaffar Hussain, President of the Protect the rights of elderly People Pulbari Upazila Working Group Committee, Bhabes Chandra Mandal, Mandal, Civil Society representatives Dinanatha Chandra Atul Chandra, Paresh Chandra, UP members Madan Chandra, journalists, government officials, non-government staff and local dignitaries.
Construction worker electrocuted in Barisal

One construction worker died, two others critically inured of electrocution at West Kawnia area of Barisal city on Thursday noon. The dead victim was identified as Neasr Akon, 26, son of Abdul Khalek from Dakkhin Gendamara village under Taltali upazila of Barguna district. The critically injured two were Abdul Kuddus, 29, and Ashikur Rahman, 22, sons of Lal Mia from the same area and admitted at Sher E Bangla Medical College Hospital. Selim Reza, Kawnia police station officer in charge, said the construction workers were carring a pipe on road for piling of a under construction site in the area. Suddenly the pipe came in touch with a live electric wire of a transformer and the workers electrocuted. Local rescuing them sent to SBMCH. There attending doctor declared Nesar Akon as dead and admitted two others in critical condition, the police sources said. Body of the dead victim sent to morgue for autopsy lodging a case of unnatural death, police sources said.
