55 killed in flash floods in Pakistan

Flash floods triggered by heavy rain in Pakistan have killed at least 55 people and rescuers were trying on Monday to help thousands of survivors including some cut off by a landslide in a mountain valley, officials said.
The weather system that brought the unusually heavy rain was expected to move northeast, towards northern India, although more isolated storms were expected in northern Pakistan, the Meteorological Department said.

Suicide bomber kills 6 in Afganistan

Afghan officials say at least six people have been killed in a suicide bombing in northern Parwan province.
Mohammad Sayed Seddiqi, administrative chief of Siagird district, says the bomber was on a motorbike when the attack took place Tuesday near a bazaar during the traditionally busy morning hours.
He says the bomber targeted the local police headquarters. Seddiqi also says at least one police officer was among 26 wounded.

Vietnam confirms Zika virus cases

Two Vietnamese women have tested positive for the Zika virus, the Ministry of Health said on Tuesday, the first confirmed cases of the mosquito-transmitted infection in the Southeast Asian country.
State media reported the younger of the patients is pregnant. A 64-year-old from the popular beach resort of Nha Trang became the country’s first confirmed case after being admitted to hospital complaining of fever, headache and a rash on her legs, the ministry said in a statement.

Israel demolishes Palestinian homes
AFP, Nablus:
 Israeli forces demolished the family homes early on Monday of three Palestinians killed after a deadly attack in east Jerusalem in February, Palestinian security sources and the Israeli army said.
The three homes were destroyed in Qabatiya in the northern West Bank, an Israeli army statement said.
“Security forces demolished the residences of Ahmed Najeh Ismaeel Naser, Muhammad Ahmed Kmail, and Ahmed Najeh Abu al-Roub in the village of Qabatiya south of Jenin,” a statement said.
