Night guard electrocuted in Jhenidah

A night guard of Jhenidah KC College has been electrocuted while plucking vegetables from a tree inside the complex of Jhenidah judicial magistrate of Jhenidah judicial magistrate court on Friday night . The victim is Akkaj Ali, 50 son of Samed Ali of Korapara village of sadar upazila. He got electrocuted while plucking vegetable from a tree. Locals and police said, Akkaj had been serving as a night guard of Jhenidah KC college. On Friday morning at around 9-30 am he went to pluck some vegetables from sajina tree inside the complex of Judicial magistrate Parvej Shahriar. As he climbed up the tree, he came in contact with live wire and electrocuted. As the news spread, the locals guessed that the night guard might be under the magistrate. They mistakenly besieged his resident and blocked the town service demanding the compensation for the demise of the night guard. The angry mob besieged and vandalized some makeshifts of the town.

Driver killed in road crash in Jhenidah
A three wheeler driver was killed in a road crashed at bypass road stand on Jhenidah-Jessore road in Jhenidah sadar upazila on Friday morning. The deceased was identified as Ramzan Ali, 42 son Goni Molla of Bagdanga village of the upazila. Officer in charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury of sadar police station said, on Friday morning at around 11:00 am a Kaligonj bound three wheeler localy known as Tampu collided head on with a land laden tractor at bypass road stand on Jhenidah-Jessore road in Jhenidah sadar upazila, leaving three wheeler driver died on the spot. On information police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. A case has been filed with sadar police station in this connection, the OC added.

13 school boys, teachers injured in rival group students’ clash in Gournadi

At least 11 school boys, headmaster and a teacher sustained minor injuries in clashes between two groups of students over smoking at the Gournadi pilot secondary school campus in Gournadi upazila town of Barisal on Thursday noon. Witnesses said, Mehedi Hasan Mim and Imon Sardar, two students of class-X beat Zihad Mia, a student of class-VII for smoking cigarette in the campus at about 1:10 pm. Then Bappu, Titu Mia, Muhammad Ali and other students of class IX in favour of Zihad Mia beat Akib Sardar of class-X at about 1:20 pm. As tensions were created among the students of class-IX and X, so Md. Waliullah, headmaster and Shakti Biswas, a teacher of the school trying to compromise the matter called both groups to sit in a meeting at the room of the headmaster. In the mean time Imran Mia, Joy, Shaon Bepari, Mamun Mia, BCL cadres of Gournadi College, entering inside the school campus favouring class-IX group beat Chayon Sardar, Sakil Haoladar, Imon Sharif, Shanto, Rabin Haoladar, and Mehedi Hasan Mim of class-X group.

2 killed in Rajshahi road accident
RAJSHAHI: Two persons including driver were killed and another was injured when a Prothom Alo carrying pickup van turned turtle and hit a truck from behind. The van met the accident when its driver lost control over the steering at Sabdipur area on Rajshahi-Chapainawabgonj highway under Godagari Upazila of the district in early hours yesterday. The deceased were identified as driver Shahidul Islam, 35, and paper lineman Farhad Hossain, 30, both of Sirajgonj. Another injured Jafar Iqbal was undergoing treatment at Godagari 31-bed hospital. Mukaddem Ali, Officer-in-Charge of Godagari Police Station, said the newspaper-laden van was heading towards Chapainawabgonj from Bogra and fell pray to the accident at around 5.30 am. Driver Shahidul Islam died on the spot while lineman Farhad Hossain succumbed to his injuries at Godagari Hospital, reports BSS.
