US to raise Iran’s missile tests at UN

The United States will raise during U.N. Security Council consultations next week the issue of Iran’s recent ballistic missile launches and is urging countries to cooperate on undermining Tehran’s missile program, the U.S. envoy to the United Nations said on Friday. “We will raise these dangerous launches directly at Council consultations, which we have called for, on Monday,” U.S. Ambassador Samantha Power said in a statement.

Astronaut Scott Kelly to retire in April

Astronaut Scott Kelly will retire from NASA next month, after spending nearly a year in space and setting a record for the most cumulative days in space of any American, the US space agency said. Kelly, a former Navy pilot who joined NASA in 1996, will leave the agency April 1.

China protests Dalai Lama’s presence at UN confc

China has lodged a protest with the United Nations (UN) for inviting the Dalai Lama to its conference in Geneva saying that the Tibetan spiritual leader is a separatist and not entitled to talk about human rights.
China voiced “strong unsatisfaction” and lodged solemn representations after the Dalai Lama was invited to attend an activity on the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations human rights meeting.

Four injured in shooting in Canada

The Royal Canadian Mounted Police said four men were shot at a Muslim cemetery just outside of Calgary on Friday afternoon.
Sgt. Jack Poitras said the shooting happened near Cochrane and the injured people were being treated at Calgary hospitals.
A police spokeswoman at the scene said all suffered non-life-threatening injuries. Police said there was a funeral at the cemetery and a group of people remained at the site following the service.
