Youth jailed for eve-teasing in Barguna

A mobile court here on Thursday sentenced a youth to six month’s jail for eve teasing a schoolgirl at Amtali upazila of the district. The convict is Al Amin, 25. Police sources said local people caught him while he was eve teasing a schoolgirl student and handed over to the court. Later, Amtali upazila nirbahi officer M Mizanur Rahman arranged trial of him at the mobile court and gave the punishment.
Faridpur Bar election held
FARIDPUR : The election of Faridpur Bar Association was held on the premises of Faridpur Bar yesterday amid festivity. Advocate Asadur Rahman Khan Milu and Advocate Habibur Rahman Habib were elected president and secretary respectively for one year term. A total of 260 voters cast their votes out of 300 votes. Both the president and secretary both bagged 92 votes. There were more five contestants each for both the posts. Advocate Dinesh Chandra Das along with two other election committee members conducted the election. The executive body consists of 21 members of them five were elected uncontested.
712 Fishermen get ID cards in Magura
MAGURA: Fisheries Department has distributed identity cards (ID) among 712 fishermen of Sripur upazila of the district on Thursday. All registered and identity card holders fishermen of the district from now will get government facilities including bank loan to increase their business. The distribution ceremony was held at the upazila parishad auditorium with upazila nirbahi officer M Ashraful Alam in the chair while MP of Magura-1 Major general (Retd) ATM Abdul Wahab attended as the chief guest and president of district Awami league Al-Haj Tansen Hossain was as the special guest, , reports BSS.
3 jailed over housewife murder in Sylhet

A court here on Thursday sent a man and his two sons to jail in a case filed over killing a housewife in 2015. Judge Kudrat-e-Khuda of Sylhet Judicial Magistrate Cognizance Court-6 gave an order to send Abdul Mannan and his two sons Suaibor Rahman and Selim Ahmed to jail after rejecting a petition the accused submitted seeking bail in the case. According to the court sources, Selim Ahmed violated Jayeda, wife of his Saudi expatriate brother Foyzur Rahman, also a mother of two children, in absence of her husband and strangled her to death at Bhogilkandi village in Goainghat upazila on September 15, 2015.Later he with the help of his brother Suaibor and father Abdul Mannan concealed the body. Azir Uddin, father of Jayeda filed a case with Goainghat Police Station. On October 10, an autopsy was done on the body after exhuming it following a court order. Abdul Mannan along with his two sons remained absconding since after the incident.
Unidentified body recovered in Mollahat

A decomposed and unidentified dead body of a young man (30) was recovered by the police from Rajpat area under Mollahat Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday in the morning. It is reported that in the morning some locals found the dead body lying on the side of Dhaka-Khulna Highway in Rajpat village and informed the police of Mollahat PS of the matter. Being informed of the matter police rushed to the spot, recovered the dead body and sent it to Bagerhat morgue for its autopsy. SI Tuhin Mandol of Mollahat PS told the newsmen, it is guessed that the young was, perhaps, a Nasiman (3 wheeled vehicle) driver. Some miscreants killed him at the night and hijacked the vehicle.
