Farmer injured in abandoned bomb in Jhenidah

A farmer has received injuries with an abandoned bomb at Boroghighati village under Kaliganjn upazila of the district on Saturday morning. The victim is Abdul Kuddus, 42 son of late Babur Ali of Boroghighati village under Kaliganjn upazila of the district. He is undergoing treatment at Kaliganj local health complex. Eye witnesses and police said, Kuddus went to his village field to graze his cattle. At the time he found a brick. He tried to pick up from the soil. Abruptly, the abandoned bomb blasted and he received injuries with his right hand and legs. Hearing the screams of the farmer locals rushed the spot and took him to Kaliganj local health complex. SI Monirul Islam of Kaliganj police station said, an abandoned bomb has blasted while digging out a brick and Kuddus received injuries.
Distribution of seeds, fertilizer going on in Chapainawabganj

Distribution of seeds and fertilizer free of cost among the farmers has been going on in Chapainawabganj district. Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila Agriculture office distributed 20 kg of urea, 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP, five kg of seeds for high yielding Aus and 20 kg of urea, 10 kg of DAP, 10 kg of MOP and 10 kg of seeds for Nerika variety of Aus and Tk. 600 for removing weeds to each of 854 farmers of Narayanpur, Alatuli and Debinagar unions of sadar upazila on Saturday.The seeds and fertilizer were distributed in a function on the BADC office premises. During the distribution, upazila chairman Md. Ruhul Amin, upazila nirbahi officer Dr. Chitralekha Naznin, upazila agriculture officer Dr. M. Azizur Rahman and project officer of Nadi O Jibon-2 project of non-government organization Agriculture Sustainable and Socio-Economic Development Organization (ASSEDO) Saheb Ali were present.
Bagerhat Press Club condoles death of ABM Musa

In a meeting held in Bagerhat Press Club on Friday in the evening with its president Babul Sardar in the chair in order to condole the death of veteran journalist of the country ABM. Musa and to remember him. At first all the members of the club paid homage to him observing silence for one minute on standing position.In the meeting Adv. Mir Shswkat Ali Badsha, MP of Bagerhat constituency-2 and founder president of the club spoke on the occasion as the chief guest. He termed him (ABM. Musa) as a guardian of the journalists. He added that the death of him was an irreparable to the country. He also added that if we could follow the ideals of him in our life we would be able to pay homage to him in the true sense of the term. The meeting was also addressed among others by Adv. Md. Mozaffor Hossain, freedom fighter Gazi Abdul Jalil, Prof. ABM. Mosharraf Husain, Shwkat Akunji, Ahsanu Karim, Md. Rabiul Islam, M. Akbor Tutul, Sahwkat Ali Babu, Yamin Ali, Abu Sayeed, Fakir Hasan Ali, Ruma Aktar, Moazzem Hossain Maznu and Molla Masudul Haq It was decided in the meeting to send a condolence message to the members of the bereaved family.
Two held for burning housewife with acid in Jhalakati

Two accused were arrested for severely burning a housewife with acid at Awrabunia village under Kathalia upazila in Jhalakathi district. The seventy-percent acid-burnt victim Runu Begum, 26, daughter of Rabbey Ali Boyati and Rehana Begum was sent to Dhaka by the acid-burn victim’s support unit of Brac on early Tuesday. Police, hospital and family sources said, Runu, mother of a 2-year old daughter Lamia was divorced by her husband Lal Mia in last year after he and his second wife Hasina Begum started torture on Runu. However after the divorce in last year Lal Mia often visited his daughter Lamia at the house of his former in-laws. This made Hasina, second wife of Lal Mia, jealous and she engaged two rented terrorists Dulal Haoladar and Akkas Haoladar to kill or burn Runu Begum, alleged Rehana Begum, mother and complainant of the case lodged in this connection. Accordingly the rented terrorists Dulal and Akkas at 1:200 am on March 20, 2014 poured acid filled in a big bowl on Renu Begum when went out of house to attend nature’s call.
 Runu rescued by family members sent to Barisal Sher -e- Bangla Medical College Hospital and after giving primary treatments for 15-day releasing ailing Runu asked to send her Dhaka for better treatment. However due to financial crisis of the parents, Runu was returned home and her condition deteriorated, Rehana Begum told. Seeing this situation, visited villagers informed Kathalia police station and police visiting her recorded her statement and registered a case lodged by Rehana Begum , mother of the victim, against four accused on April 5 under prevention of torture against women and children and acid-terrorism acts. Police operating immediate drives arrested two accused Hasina Begum, co-wife and Akkas, one of the rented terrorist, on Monday and they sent to jail on Tuesday after the Jhalakathi chief judicial magistrate court rejected their bail prayer, informed Kathalia police station officer in charge.
