Jessore police nab 73, seized Yaba, heroin

The police arrested a total of 73 people along with 95 pieces of Yaba pill, 60 small packets of heroin and a number of Phensedyl and cannabis raiding several places under 8 upazilas in Jessore on Saturday, Anisur Rahman, superintendent of police said. The district police boss said that raiding several places under the upzilas the police made the arrest and recovery. Separate cases were lodged in the connections.
Trader’s office attacked
Rivals attacked the office of a local trader in Chachra Raipara area of the Jessore district town on Saturday night. Police said Babor Ali along with his men Harun and Miraj had earlier several times attempted to occupy the house of local Syed Masum Billah in the area. As they failed, they demanded Tk5 lakh toll from Masum Billah threatening to kill him for non-payment. Later, Babor along with his men attacked the business office of Masum, vandalised it and looted Tk2 lakh around 9pm. The attackers also vandalised his motorcycle. They also beat a worker of the office as he protested. A case was filed with Kotwali Police Station in this connection. Later police arrested Babor and Harun in this connection.
‘Outlaw party leader’ held in Rajbari
RAJBARI : Police arrested an outlaw leader along with a shooter gun and two rounds of bullets from Bohuladanga village of Pangsha upazila on Sunday night. The arrested was identified as Ketai, 29, son of Tiger Ayub, a resident of the village. Hafizur Rahman, sub-inspector of Pangsha Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive at the village in the afternoon and arrested the man. After primary interrogation, the law enforcers conducted another drive at the banana orchard of one Ali Master of Dakkhin Para village in the same upazila on Monday morning and recovered the shooter gun and two rounds of bullets which were kept in a plastic bag and buried under the ground of the orchard. Ketai was a member of outlawed group ‘Bipul Bahini’. A case was filed in connection with the arms recovery, added SI Hafizur, reports UNB.
Diabetes Awareness Day observed at Kishoreganj

Diabetic Somity, Kishoreganj Unit arranged a colourfull rally, discussion, film documentary and postering marking the awareness day. A discussion on Changing diabetes was held at its conference room on Sunday with Samity Vice-President Al-hajj Kazi Shahen Khan in the chair. It was addressed among others by its General Secretary, Md. Shafiqul Islam, Vice-President Shamsunnaher Habib, Dr. Shuhil Kumar Shil, Adv. Jahirul Islam, Abdullah Al Mohimin Lak Miah, Shafiqul Islam Fakir Moti, Professon Shamiul Haque Mollah and A.K.M Etimodollah Salim. A colourfull rally was also brought out in the town led by Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah.
Engineer held for torturing domestic help

 One engineer arrested for a torturing minor aged girl working as domestic help at his house on early Saturday. Shakhawat Hossain, Kotwali police station officer in charge, said police arrested Nurul Ahad Rana, a diploma engineer working in a private firm, from his residence at Kalu Shah Road in the city on Friday night for torturing minor aged domestic help Mukta, 8,. Rana sent to jail on Saturday afternoon after a Barisal Court rejected his bail prayer. Police rescuing victim Mukta with the help of the local people giving first aid sent her to victim support centre at Kotwali Police Station on early Saturday. Sub Inspector Delowar Hossain, as complainant, filed a case on Saturday for torturing the minor aged domestic help, police sources said. Mukta failing to disclose her family identity and address clearly only could say that name of her father was Majhi and mother was Taslima of Bhola district.
