Nat’l photo exhibition starts at SUST

A three-day national photo exhibition titled “Inquest Insight” was begun at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) campus on Friday. Shahjalal University Photographers’ Association (SUPA) arranged the function at the ground of Academic Building-D. SUST VC Prof Aminul Haque Bhuyan inaugurated the exhibition at around 03:30 pm while Assistant Proctor Assistant Prof Zahid Hasan was present among others. Photographers across the country submitted a total of 3479 photos while 73 photos in two categories- 55 in camera and 18 in mobile categories- were selected for the exhibition.

District Family Planning office in Jhenaidah arranged a day- long workshop on small family, anti natal care, safe delivery and new born care and nutrition at the seminar room of the deputy commissioner on Thursday. Presided over by the Deputy Director of the Department of Family Planning Dr. Jahid Ahmed, Deputy Commissioner Mahabubul Alam Takukder attended the workshop as the chief guest. Civil Surgeon Dr. Abdus Salam, Media Production Manager of the department Mohammad Maniruzzaman and Jhenaidah press club president Alauddin Azad attended as special guests. The participants said, although the average birth rate of the country against a mother is 2.3, the rate is 1.9 in Jhenaidah which a significant in the birth control sector. They said, as the delivery of 62 per cent is conducted by the unskilled and untrained birth attendants in rural Bangladesh, it should be developed faster to ensure safe delivery in local health complexes and community clinics. The situation might be improved when the mothers, their counter part and family members both in rural and urban areas are aware on the issues, especially, stop child marriage. The journalists working with both print and electronics media should play vital role development of the situation, they added.
Road management seminar held

Bangladesh Road Transport Authority (BRTA) and Kishoreganj District Administration Jointly arranged a seminar on Road Management and Advocacy held at Local Collectorate conference hall on Saturday afternoon. Dhaka Divisional Commissioner Md. Zillar Rahman attended as chief guest while Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah presided over . It was addressed among others by BRTA Joint Dicrector Shahanewaze Talkukder, Mahabubul Hasan Shaheen, ADC (G) Torafder Md. Akhter Jamil. Acting Police Super Syed Abu Sayeem, RHD Executive Engineer Shafiqul Islam, Assistant Director Md. Noruzzaman, Transport Association leader Manik Ranjon Dey, Helal Uddin Manik, District Press Club President Mostafa Kamal and transport workers leader Habibur Rahman, Government officials, NGO officers, transports owners and workers, journalists and police officers attended the seminar.
