Wine seized in Chuadanga

Border Guard Bangladesh ( BGB) recovered 217 bottles Indian wine from mango orchard at Natun Para village in Zebonnagar Upazila under Chuadanga district in an abandoned condition on Tuesday. Commanding Officer of BGB – 6, Chuadanga Lieutenant Colonel S M Moniruzzaman said on the tip – off a BGB team led by natun para camp commander Abdul Kalam raided mango orchard at nuton para and seized that wine. But drug peddlers fled from the spot, sensing BGB mens presence. However nobody was arrested in this connection.
Digital Innovation Fair ends

A three day long digital innovation fair ended here on Tuesday. The fair was organized by the Chapainawabganj district administration.A total of 45 stalls were set up by the government, non-government organizations, different digital centres of union parishad, schools, colleges and banks.The concluding ceremony of the fair was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) of Chapainawabganj Mohammad Towfiqul Islam. Deputy Commissioner of Mohammad Jahangir Kobir attended the function as chief guest and distributed prizes among the participant stalls. The fair drew a large numbers of visitors, district administration sources said.
Robi Fast Bowler Hunt Camp at Barisal

Robi Axiata Limited, the sponsor of the Bangladesh National Cricket team and Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), started a talent hunt campaign for promising fast bowlers Abdur Rob Serniabad Stadium in Barisal on Tuesday. Nurul Alam Nuru, secretary district sports association, A E M Kaiser, operation manager BCB, Tarikul Islam, divisional cricket-coach, Faria Raksanda, brand and marketing communication specialist, Habib Mansur Arif, event CEO of Robi Axiata Limited, were present at inaugural ceremony. The campaign titled “Robi Fast Bowler Hunt” started across the country from January 17 and primary round will continue till February 7. Total 580 competitors for Barisal venue registered their name through SMS/ Online/ by visiting selected Robi Walk-In-Center till 1:00 PM, January 14, informed Shakhawat Ullah, media communication officer of the programme. This challenge organised in two phases was open for both male and female participants between ages 16-23 with 5 feet 6 inches height for male and 5 feet for female participants.
100 battery-run auto-rickshaws seized

A joint-drive to remove battery-run rickshaws from Sylhet city was launched yesterday As part of the move, the police seized 100 battery-run rickshaws from the city’s different spots. Sylhet Metropolition Police accompanied them during the drive. Nikulin Chakma, Additional Police commissioner (Traffic) of Sylhet Metropolitan Police (SMP), said “We conducted the drives at 10 points yesterday from 7am with the help of Two magistrates of the district administration and SCC”. Claiming that the drives will bring little sufferings to the city dwellers as there are sufficient number of paddle rickshaws there. However, visiting several stops it was noticed that few rickshaws went into operation since the drives started in the morning
2 held with Yaba pills, cash in Munshiganj
KERANIGANJ: Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) members arrested two alleged drug peddlers along with Yaba tablets and cash from Srinagar upazila of Munshiganj district on Tuesday night. The arrestees were identified as M Saijuddin, 45, son of late Darbesh Ali, and M Jahangir Mollah, 33, son of late Yunus Mollah, both residents of Palli Bazar of Dohar upazila. Senior Additional Police Super (ASP) of Mushiganj camp of RAB-11 Masud Anwar said on secrete information a team of the elite force conducted a drive at Srinagar Ferry Ghat and arrested the duo. Rab members also recovered 372 peices of Yaba tablet and Tk 11,000 cash from their possession. Later, the drug traders were handed over to Srinagar Police Station, reports UNB.
