Syed Nazrul Islam Memorial T-20 Cricket Tournament organised by Muktizoddha Jubo Command began at Syed Nazrul Islam Stadium in the town on Saturday. Bangladesh Cricket Board Chairman Nazmul Hasam Papon M.P. formaly innugurerd the tournament while Public Administration Minister Syed Ashraful Islam M P attended as Chief Guest. It was addressed among others by Rejowan Ahmed Toufiq, Gazi Golam Dostgir M.P, Muktizoddha Jubo Command President Forhad Hossain Khan M.P, Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah, Police Super Md. Anwar Hossain Khan, National Cricket Player Taskin Ahmed, Adv Syed Asfakul Islam Tito and newly -elected Poura Mayor Md. Pervas Mia.
Pistol , revolver recovered in Natore

Lalpur thana police recovered a country- made pistol and a Pakistany revolver on Thursday. Police also arrested a middle aged man Tipu Sultan (35) in this connection on the day. He is a son of Intaz Ali of the village Ahmedpur under Lalpur thana in Natore district. Tipu Sultan informed firstly to Lalpur thana police that there were a pistol and a revolver at the house of a farmer Nurul Islam of the village Durgapur under the same thana. On this information, the police raided and searched the house of Nurul Islam. But they got nothing. Then the police searched the body of Tipu Sultan and got a country made pistol and a Pakistany revolver from him. The police and witnesses said that there was a quarrel between Tipu Sultan and Nurul Islam on a disputed land. On this account, Tipu Sultan had tried to keep these arms like a pistol and a revolver at the house of Nurul Islam before the police came. But he failed. A case has been filed in this connection by Lalpur thana police.
Digital Innovation Fair begins in Sylhet city

A two-day digital innovation fair began in Sylhet on Wednesday. Md Mayeen Uddin, Cabinet Division Additional Secretary, inaugurated the fair as chief guest at Mohammad Ali Gymnasium at Rikabibazar in the town. ‘Proper initiation and implementation of digital system at all sectors of the government will help eliminate corruption from the society,’ the additional secretary said in his inaugural speech. He urged the new generation to be more dynamic and punctual to take the nation forward. Access to Information project of the Prime Minister’s Office in association with the district administration arranged the fair to promote computer and information technology and its uses among the grassroots people. Sylhet Deputy Commissioner Zoynal Abedin chaired the inaugural session, while a2i project coordinator Manik Mahmud, Sylhet Civil Surgeon Aminul Islam, and land ministry deputy secretary Mahbubur Rahman Bhuiyan addressed the function, among others. Forty two stalls of different public and private sectors participated in the two-day fair under four categories, including e-services, e-education, e-commerce and young innovation exhibition and completion. The fair will remain open from 10:00am to 7:00pm, the organisers said.
2 arrested with firearms, bullets in Mymensingh

Members of Detective Branch (DB) of police in a drive arrested two people and recovered two foreign made pistols, eight bullets and arms making materials from a local newspaper office in Maskanda BSCIC Industrial area of the district town this morning. The arrestees were identified as Mehedi Hasan Nadim, managing editor of “The Dainik Jahan” newspaper, and his assistant Rasel. On a tip-off, a team of DB conducted a raid in the newspaper office early in the morning and recovered the arms, bullets, arms making materials and local sharp weapons, said Sadar circle ASP Abdur Rashid. Later, the team arrested the duo in connection with the matter.
