Annual sports of police held in C’ nawabganj

Additional Inspector General of Police Siddiqur Rahman said, all should uphold the spirit of liberation war asd the country is our mother. 30 lakh brave sons of the country sacrificed their lives and three lakh mothers and sisters sacrificed their honour to liberate the country and it is our sacred duty to protect the liberty and honour of the country, they added. He said this while speaking as chief guest in the prize distribution function of the annual sports and police gathering of Chapainawabganj. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of police of Rajshahi Range Md. Iqbal Bahar, Afsari Choudhuri wife of Additional Inspector General of Police Siddiqur Rahman and Sabrin Afroz wife of Bashir Ahmmad attended it as special guest while it was presided over by the superintendent of police (SP) of Chapainawabganj Bashir Ahmmad. The prize distribution was held in the evening after the annual sports of the Chapainawabganj district police at Chapainawabganj Police Lines. The sports were held in 23 events and the members of police and their family members participated in different events. A grand cultural function was also held at night.
Traditional bull-cart race held in Jhenaidah

Traditional bull cart race competition 2016 was held at Betai-Chandipur village under Ganna union in Jhenaidah Sadar upazila on Thursday afternoon . The race competition was organized by Ganna Union Juba Samitte, an organization with the youth society in the village. Some 15 bull-carts from different parts Chuadanga, Kushtia and Jhenidah district had participated in the competition continued till evening. Presided over by Ganna Union Parishad chairman Masud Parvez Lilton, Additional superintendent of police (ASP) Prottus Kumar Mazumdar was present as chief guest, while Assistant superintendent of police Gopinath Kanzilal and Jhenaidah Sadar police officer in charge Hasan Hafizur Rahman had presented themseleves as special guests. The speakers had titled the race as Gorur Garir Dour in Bangladesh. They added bull cart race consequently, is an important element of folk culture. The event of Cow with cart racing is so unique that there seems to be no other ones that could be muddier, more chaotic or more energetic. Ranu Biswas from Betai-Chandipur village in Jhenaidah Sdar won the first prize with a 21 inch colour television.
