Anti-drug campaign starts in K’ganj

Kishoreganj District Administration and Narcotics Control Department jointly arranged colorful rally, human chanin, meeting, seminar and campaign marking the nation-wide.

It was addressed among others by ADC (Gen) Tarafdher Akther Jamil, Senior ASP Fazla Rabbi and Inspector Nurul Alam. Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah said the programme would create mass awareness among the people about the ills of drug abuse. He also said students are falling prey to drug peddlers and said drug addiction should be eliminated from the country to ensure a healthy society.
RCC opens internet networking

Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) has opened internet structured networking (Broad Brand) and Wi-Fi both inside and outside of its own building aims at encouraging people’s involvement in information technology besides expediting its online civic services. The city corporation launched the modern communication system with the main thrust of bringing dynamism in its service- delivery process through replacing the existing manual activities into digital system in phases. From now on, the city dwellers particularly the students can use internet facilities free of cost through using the zone. On the occasion, the RCC organized a function in its premises today with participation of ward councilors, officials concerned and other stakeholders. Former Mayor of RCC AHM Khairuzzaman Liton and present Mayor-in-Charge Nizam-Ul Azim attended and addressed the opening session as chief and special guests respectively with Ward Councilor Shahjahan Ali in the chair. Chief Executive Officer Ajahar Ali, Secretary Syeda Zebinnissa Sultana and Chief Engineer Ashraful Haque also spoke.
Two Jamaat leaders held in Rampal

Alhaj Maulana Zulfikar Ali, Amir of Rampal Upazila Jamat-e-Islam in Bagerhat district and Mustafizur Rahman, a Jamat activist was arrested along with 5 bombs by the police from Sonatunia Alia Madrsa area under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat recently. SI Alamgir Hossain IC of Foilahat police outpost under Rampal PS said that acting on a secret report, a police squad led by SI Abul Bashar of Rampal PS raided the area and arrested them while they were taking preparations for sabotage activities. Arrested Mawlana Zulfikar Ali hailed from the village Bashtali under Rampal Upazila and Jamat activist Mostafizur Rahman hailed from Debipur under the same Upazila. Another report states that Shamim Akunji (43), a BNP leader of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila in Bagerhat district was arrested by the police on Wednesday night. He is the Joint Secretary General of Bagerhat Sadar Upazila unit of Bangladesh Jamat-e-Islam and son one Abdul Malek Akunji of Karapara area under the Upazila.
