Youth electrocuted in Sylhet

A young man died from electrocution in Tukerbazar area in Sadar upazila on Tuesday morning. The deceased was identified as Monwar Hossain, 30, son of late Chand Mia of Chikarkandi village of Dakkhin Sumanganj. Witnesses said Monwar was severely injured as he came in contact witha snapped electric wire while working with a drill machine at Uttaran Motor Workshop in the area at about 11:00 am. He was rushed to Osmani Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

BBA student killed in Manikganj road crash

A BBA student was killed when his bike crashed into a moving truck at Beutha here on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Ananya Chowdhury, 22, a private university BBA student and resident of Betila village in Sadar upazila. Family sources said the accident took place around 8:00pm while he was returning home from the district town. He died on the spot.

An elderly woman killed in Jhenidah road crash

April 2: An elderly woman was killed and another seven persons were injured in a road crashed near Nagorbathan village on Jhenidah-Chuadanga road in Jhenidah sadar upazila on Wednesday morning. The deceased was identified as Fatema Begum, 55 wife of Samsar Mondol of Roakuli village under Alamdanga upazila in Chuadanga. The injured were admitted to Jhenidah sadar hospital and different clinics of the district town. Officer in charge (OC) Iqbal Bahar Chowdhury of sadar police station said, on Wednesday morning at around 10:00 am Fatema with her family members were going to her residence from her relative’s house raiding on a human huller. While running fast it lost its control and turned turtle leaving Fatema died on the spot and another seven persons received injured. On information police reached the spot and recovered the body and sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Truck hits boys dies in N’ganj

NARAYANGANJ: A minor boy was killed as a recklessly driven truck knocked down him in Siddhirganj area of the city on Tuesday evening. The deceased was identified as Jisan,7, student of Siddhirganj mGovernment Primary School and son of Afsaruddin, a resident of Omarpur area of the city. Police said a truck ran into Jisan at about 5:45 pm as he was playing football in a field near his house while the driver was taking a turn of his vehicle, leaving him dead on the spot. Police recovered the body and sent it to Narayanganj General Hospital orgue for an autopsy. Police also seized the killer truck but the driver and his helper managed to flee the scene. Abdul Matin, officer-in-charge of Siddhirganj Police Station, confirmed the accident. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.

One held while peddling yaba in Magura

MAGURA: Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with 17 pieces of Yaba tablet from Kajli Bazar in Sreepur upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The arrestee was identified as Bachchu Sheikh,35, a resident of Hogaldanga village of the upazila. Sayed Aktaruzzaman, officer-in-charge of Sreepur Police Station, said on secret information, a team of police conducted a drive in the area and arrested Bachchu while he was selling the contraband tablets in the afternoon.Police also recovered 17 pieces of the Yaba tablet from hispossession.The arrestee has been involved in drug peddling in the area for long,the OC added.A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.

Tongi clinic vandalised

Gazipur: Incensed at a female patient’s death allegedly because of wrong treatment, her relatives in a sudden swoop vandalised a private clinic in Station Road area of Tongi on Tuesday night. Police and locals said Kabir Hossain, a resident of Auchpara area of
the city, had taken her wife Selina,28, to the private clinic, Seba Shushrasha Hospital, with complaints of serious neck pain at about 7:00 pm. Her condition was noticed worsening there just after on-duty doctor Ekramul Haque pushed an injection into her body. Later, Selina was shifted to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital. But her husband Kabir later took her to Uttara Adhunik Hospital where on-duty doctor declared her dead at about 10:00 pm, reports UNB.
