Reception to meritorious students and FFs held

Reception was awarded to the meritorious students and freedom fighters at Nayalabhanga under Shibganj upazila of Chapainawabganj district on Wednesday. Nayalabhanga union parishad arranged the programme on Ranihati Degree College premises. It was held with the teacher Sarwar Jahan Zem in the chair and was addrressed among others by the UP chairman Ashraful Hoque, principal of Ranihati Degree College Abul Bashar, Professor Mainul Hoque, retired head teacher Khairul Alam and freedom fighter Meshtor Ali. The speakers said, the present government has taken multiple initiatives for the modernization of education. The students are now getting new books on the first day of their session free of cost, they added. They asked the students to build up themselves as honest and efficient people so that they can lead the nation in the correct way in future.
2 killed, 5 injured in Jhenaidah road accidents

Two people including a businessman were killed and 5 were injured in separate road accidents in Kaliganj and Sailkupa upazila in the district on Tuesday night. The deceased were identified as Tushar Hossain, 25, of Alaipur village under Sundarpur union in Kalignaj upazila and Idris Mollah, 34, son of Raihan Mollah, a business man of Jadobpur village under Sailkupa upazila. Anwar Hossain, officer in charge of Kaliganj police said, truck helper Tushar Hossain was taking tea standing beside a tea shop at Kaliganj bus stand on Jhenidah-Jessore highway at about 3.30 am on Wednesday. Suddenly a speedy truck hit him from the back and managed to flee. Local people rushed him to Kaliganj upazila health complex in a critical state. The attending physician declared him dead.
