Press conference on indigenous human rights held

A press conference on ‘Facts Finding on the Human Rights of the Indigenous Groups’ was held at Chapainawabganj Circuit House on Sunday. Arranged by Parliamentary Caucus on Indigenous People, it was held with the member of the Caucus poet Kazi Rosy MP in the chair and was addressed among others by vice chancellor of Exim Bank Agriculture University Professor Dr. Abdul Mannan Akanda, Professor Mesbah Kamal, consultant of UNDP Oliver Toohi and technical member of Caucus and general secretary of the Research and Development Collective (RDC) Jannat-e-Ferdousi. The speakers expressed their deep concern over the human rights situation of the plain land indigenous groups. They said, indigenous groups have been reduced from primary land owners to a distinct minority. Moreover indigenous groups are marginalised further as Bangladesh integrates itself economically into the global economy, they added.
SEF inaugurates free computer literacy camp in Patuakhali

Nazrul Islam Bashir, Executive Director, Southern Educational Foundation (SEF) inaugurated a free computer literacy camp at Nutan Sreenagar in Patuakhali recently. SEF Programmes Director Asma Rinku, Director Jayeda Yasmin Rekha, Md. Jakir Hossain, land donor for the camp Rawshon Ara Begum and Sergeant (Retd.) Rafiq were also present on the occasion. The camp was attended by around 100 school going children, women and senior citizens to aims at introducing their basic computer literacy. The programme powered by the Agrani Bank Limited. Nazrul Islam Bashir said in his speech that, SEF has decided to introduce the permanent computer literacy camp to encourage the people to be connected with digital Bangladesh.
