Non-MPO teachers form human chain in Jessore

Non-MPO teachers of some 80 colleges of Khulna division formed a human chain in front of Jessore Press Club on Tuesday morning. The college teachers of the department of Development Management and Marketing, Finance, Banking and Insurance took part the human chain demanding their enrollment in the MPO facilities. Abul Kalam Azad, Ahsan Habib, Tarek Ahmed, Sukumar Bairagi, Deepa Khan, Sultana Rajia, Tapan Kumar Bairagi and Mostafa Kamal spoke in a rally during the human chain. The teachers told that over 400 teachers of the subjects created by the government have been unpaid for a long. Family members of the teachers are enduring sufferings due to that.

Student suspended at SUST

A student of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST) was suspended from the university on Monday for misbehaving with teachers.The suspended was identified as Asif Hossain Rony, a Master class student of Anthropology Department. Sources concerned said the SUST authorities have suspended Rony and formed a five-member probe body headed by Proctor Prof Quamaruzzaman Chowdhury to investigate into the matter. Earlier on Sunday afternoon, at least four students were injured in a clash that took place between the students of IPE and Anthropology Departments centring inter-department football match at central field on the campus around 3:00pm. Four teaches were also assaulted then.

4 vessels fined in Sylhet

A mobile court of Sylhet District fined 4 vessels of different categories Tk 2,600 on different charges on Monday. District assistant Commissioner Shahadat Hossain conducted the mobile court assisted by members of BRTA. The mobile court fined the vessels on different charges like blocking the Dhaka Sylhet Highway lacking license and safety equipments, said the magistrate. BRTA Officer Kashob Kumar Das also assisted the mobile court drive.

Admission seeker held at RU suspecting Shibir activist

A group of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) leaders and activists of Rajshahi University unit on Monday held an admission seeker suspecting him as Shibir activist while he came on campus for appearing admission viva voce. They handed over the admission seeker to Motihar thana police. The detainee was identified as Abdul Kader, stood 1222th in ‘A’ unit even merit position hailed from Koyra Upazila of Khulna district. Witnesses said, Abdul Kader took seat at a tea stall in front of the university Shahidullah Arts building after completing his viva voce around 12:00pm. In the mean time a group of 9/10 leaders and activists led by BCL RU unit vice president, who was expelled earlier went there and held him for interrogation for having beard on his face and wearing pant on top of ankle.

Chuadanga BAR executives elected

The annual election to Chuadanga District lawyer’s association was held on Friday. Adv S M Shshajan Mukul has been elected president bagging 80 votes his nearest rival Advocate Nurul Islsm 72 votes, Advocate Hedayet Hossagn Aslam who received 95 voted became the General Secretary by beating the rival advocate Rofique Islam Rantu 57 votes.
