Alleged drug peddler held with heroin in Bogra

Police arrested an alleged drug peddler along with two grams of heroine (15 packs) from Sherpur bus stand of the district on Tuesday afternoon. The arrestee was identified as Dipu Poddar, 35. Inspector (Investigation) of Sherpur police station Mizanur Rahman said acting on secret information, a team of police conducted a raid on Dipu’s house in the area early Tuesday. Sensing presence of the law enforcers, Dipu managed to flee. Later, in another drive, police arrested Dipu from Sherpur bus stand along with two grams of heroin. A case was filed with Sherpur police station under The Narcotics Control Act, 1990 in this connection.
View exchange meet held in Monirampur

With the cooperation of Test Relief (TR) Fund UK the meeting was arranged by Salvation Army Khulna. Press Club President SM Moznur Rhaman presided over the programme and it was attended UNO Md Kamrul Hassan as chief guest. Upazila Agriculture Extension Officer Fozlul Hoqe Moni, Press Secretary Mothaher Hossin spoke as special guests. Among others Press Club Nirbahi member Prof. Hossian Nozrul Huq, Asadur Zaman Royel, SM Siddikur Rhaman, The Salvation Army project coordinator Lorrence Roy, Area Super visor Prodip Biswas, Abu Tarik Khan and community organiser Onil Mondol were present.
Van loaded with Indian cumin seized in Joypurhat
JOYPURHAT: Police seized a covered van loaded with 56 sacks of Indian cumin worth Tk8 lakh from rail gate area in Akkelpur upazila of the district on Wednesday night. Officer-in charge of Akkelpur police station Sazzad Hossain said a team of police intercepted the covered van at rail gate around 8pm. Later, police opened the door of the covered van and found 56 sacks of Indian cumin worth Tk8 lakh inside. Police also arrested the covered van driver, Rezaul Islam, 29, son of Afzal Hossain, a resident of Nishida village in Sadar upazila of Bogra district.A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.
Worker killed in Pirojpur road crash
PIROJPUR: A bakery worker was killed and two others were injured in a road accident in the district town on Tuesday night. The deceased was identified as Mujibur Hawlader, 45, son of late Forman Ali of Mothkhola in Sadar upazila while the injured were Mojid Khan and Naser Ali Khan. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Enayet Hossain said the accident took place as a bus hit them on the Club Road in the town around 8pm while they were crossing the road, leaving Mujibur dead on the spot and two others-Mojid and Naser-injured, reports UNB.
