Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 arrested one person and recovered 1,556 bottles of Indian phensidyl from a stone laden truck in Biswa road area in the town on Thursday night.The arrested person was identified as Md. Zahurul Islam, 27, son of Md. Rabiul Islam of Rajarampur Dighirpar area under Godagari upazila of Rajshahi district.RAB said, on information an operation team of RAB from Chapainawanganj camp followed a stone laden truck from Sonamasjid land port and detained that in Biswa road area in Chapainawabganj town at around 9.20 pm.After searching the truck RAB found the bottles and arrested Zahurul Islam.Later, he was handed over to the police of Chapainawabganj Sadar Thana and a case was filed there.Squadron leader Mobaswer Rahim of RAB-5 said, driver of the truck fled away and the arrested person claimed himself as the helper of the truck. He is an accused of a case filed earlier.
One killed, 5 injured in Munshiganj road accident

A man was killed and five others injured in a road accident at Baushia Pakhi point area under Gajaria upazila on Friday noon.The deceased was identified as M Rakibul Mollah, 30, son of Abul Kalam Mollah of Gopalganj.Officer in charge of Gajaria Police Station Hedaetul Islam Bhuiyan told BSS that the accident occurred when a truck hit a private car in the area, leaving the car driver Rakibul dead on the spot and five passengers of the car injured.The wounded were admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
Man jailed for Railway ticket black marketing
JAMALPUR :A mobile court sentenced a man to six months jail for selling Railway ticket in black market at Jamalpur railway station on Wednesday evening.According to RAB-14 sources a team of the elite force led by Deputy Assistant Director, Abdus Sabur Sheikh raided the station area and arrested Md Ikbal Hossain, 56, with six tickets of intercity Teesta train.Later, he was produced before a mobile court headed by Executive Magistrate, Jyotishwar Paul who handed down the punishment.RAB sources said Md Ikbal Hossain son of late Nachhir Sheikh at village Shahapur adjacent to Jamalpur railway station was involved with ticket black marketing for long time, reports BSS.
500 leaders-workers of BNP, JP join AL in Kurigram
Kurigram: Over 500 leaders and workers of BNP and Jatiya Party (JP) today joined formally the ruling Awami League (AL) being imbued with the ideologies of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman. The joining ceremony held at the Shaheed Minar here was attended by District Awami League president freedom fighter Aminul Islam Manju Mandol as the chief guest. 512,400 meters current net seized in Chandpur
CHANDPUR: Members of Bangladesh Coast Guard in a drive seized 512,400 meters banned current net from a passengers launch in the Meghna river at Chandpur launch Ghat here on Friday. Station Commander of Chandpur Coast Guard Lieutenant Mohammad Nuruzzaman Sheikh said a team of the Coastguard conducted the drive on the basis of secret information at Barisal-bound launch “M V Karnaphulli-3” from Dhaka and found the contraband current nets inside the water vessel. The staff of the launch fled from the scene sensing the presence of the Coastguard members.
