Jamaat-e-Islami called a nationwide daylong hartal protesting the Appellate Division’s verdict rejection its secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed’s plea for a review of death penalty awarded to him for war crimes celebrated peacefully in Dupchanchia upazila of Bogra district on Thursday. Jamaat leaders said that the islamist party on Wednesday called a dawn to dusk hartal for Thursday across the country in protest of death penalty for the party’s leader Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mujaheed. Jamaat-e-Islami has called a countrywide dawn-to-dusk hartal (shutdown) for Thursday protesting The Supreme Court’s rejection of party secretary general Ali Ahsan Mohammad Mojaheed’s plea to review its ruling upholding his death penalty for war crimes. There is no specific allegation and witnesses against Mojaheed but Mojaheed has been sentenced to death in the false case, they added, While visiting the correspondent found that the High way from Bogra-Naogaon were easy moving of vehicles defying the hartal as the people of the district don’t want any cause and confusion. The kitchen goods loaded truck from the area aiming to Dhaka were left in the schedule time as they are working to feed the people across the country.
Farmers observe Field Day in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH : Farmers observed field day on the use of Nafco mixed fertilizer on Aman paddy field at Soundordigi union under Babupara village of Debiganj upazila of the district yesterday. Nafco group private limited company arranged the field day programme. On this occasion, a discussion was held where Debiganj upazila sub-agriculture officer Golam Rabbani briefed about the Nafco mixed fertilizer as the chief guest. Assistant Manager of technical support of Nafco Company Shamsul Huque and Sefali Begum addressed the discussion . Marketing Officer of Panchagarh Ashiqur Rahman Tutul conducted the programme.Farmer Ashraf Ali presided over the discussion. Farmer Shemol Kumar informed that he got sumon Sarna paddy 19 maund per biga using Nafco fertilizer. Over100 farmers were present at the field day programme.
2 killed in Joypurhat road accident
JOYPURHAT : Two people were killed and five others were injured in a road accident in Pathanpara area under Khetlal upazila of the district in the early hours of yesterday.The deceased were identified as Tofazzal Hossain, 37, son of Johir Uddin and Ochhim Uddin, 24, son of late Achhir Uddin of Nimirpara Apeel village of Kalai upazila of the district.Officer-in-charge of Khetlal Police Station Monirul Islam said the accident occurred when a locally made vehicle turned turtle as its driver lost control over the steering in the area, leaving the two dead on the spot and five passengers of the vehicle injured. Primary treatment has been given to the wounded, reports BSS.
Jamaat hartal observed loosely in Barisal

The day long strike called by Jammat E Islami Bangladesh protesting confirming death sentence for war crimes against JIB secretary general Ali Ahsan Mujahid by Supreme Court, observed loosely in Barisal on Thursday without hampering daily life. Big show rooms, shopping centers, markets were closed and financial institutions functioned closing front doors due to hartal. Transactions in financial institutions, market, attendances in educational institutions, and judicial, administrative offices in Barisal were less than normal days.Law enforcers patrolled on city roads and deployed on important places to foil the activities of pro-hartal activists. Jamaat activists tried to bring out procession at Tehachapi area but police foiled that attempt. Road and water transportation’s on short, internal and long routes functioned with less numbers of passengers and transports.
