Newly married man found dead

A Newly married man was found dead at Bagbari area in Sylhet City on Tuesday.
The police recovered the body of Rashel Ahmed 32, son of Abdul Khalik Roshidpur village under Balagong Upazilla. Victim’s brother Salim Ahmed said that Rashel Ahmed, along with his wife and a daughter, had been living at the house of his Bagbari Houses for several years. Kotwali police reached the spot and recovered the body at about 4:00pm. The victim’s hands and legs were tied with ropes.

Two JCD leaders held

Two leaders of Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) were detained from Taltola area in the city on Monday. They are Kala Jamal and Emad Uddin Choudhury. Both are leaders of Sylhet Metropolitan unit JCD. Police sources said, a joint team of Kotwali police and Detective Branch of police conducted a drive in Taltola area at about 2:00pm and held them. Officer-in-Charge of Kotwali Police Station Sohel Ahmed said, the detainees would be sent to jail soon.

OC awarded for outstanding contributions

 DIG of Rajshahi Tange Iqbal Bahar PPM handed over the incentive money and certificate to the Officer-In-Charge of Dupchanchia police station Nazrul Islam of Bogra district in DIG hall room on Monday. Additional DIG Abdullah Al Mahmud, superintendent of all districts under the division, officer-in-charge of different police stations and other concern authority were present in the function. DIG said, Nazrul Islam was awarded for keeping out standing contribution after joining in the police station random. President of Awami-league upazila unit Mizanur Rahman Khan Selim, mayor Belal Hossain, journalist Golam Faruq, Taufiq Alam, KM Belal, Emdadul Haque, Shahidul Islam, Abu Raihan and Firoz Ahmed and elite greeted the officer.

Maha Shamshan Dipali Utsav ends at Barisal

Two-day long Maha Shamshan Dipali Utsav of Hindu community members of Barisal ended on Tuesday at Barisal Maha Shamshan Ghats and Dipabali and Diwali Utsav at their houses. This two-day long 165-year old festival started on Monday night at the Maha Shamshan Ghat in Kawnia Marokkhola and Aadi Shamshan Ghat in Natun Bazar areas of the city with special religious rituals before and on the night of Kalipuja for the blessings of the departed souls of dearest and nearest ones. The devotees washing the preserved places of burial of the parts of the cremated dead body offered flowers, foods, and decorated places with lights, lamps and candle.
