Woman detained with hemp in Sylhet

Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) personnel detained a woman in possession of one kilogram of hemp from South Surma Railway Station area in Sylhet city on Monday night. The arrestee was identified as Ambia Khatun, 50, wife of Babar Ali, a resident of Rajpara village in Srimangal upazila of Moulvibazar district. Rab-9 sources said tipped off, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area and arrested Ambia at about 9:30 pm. Rab personnel also recovered one kilogram of hemp from her possession. The arrestee was handed over to Railway Police Station.
BGB seizes contraband Indian medicines worth Tk 70 lakh

Border Guard Bangladesh personnel seized a total of 5 lakh, 66 thousand 950 pieces of Indian contraband tablets worth Tk 70,59,250 raiding an area near the garbage under Kotwali police station, said Lt Col Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion on Sunday night. The BGB CO told that tipped off the BGB men seized the animal fattening and pain killer tablets raiding the area on Saturday. But none was arrested in this connection. The medicines which are hazardous for human body were smuggled from India to Bangladesh. A case was filed with Kotwali police station in this connection.
Mobile court jails female for stealing gold chain

Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Md. Khairuzzaman jailed a female for stealing a golden chain at Boalmari Upazila Health Complex on last Thursday. Police send her to district central jail with her four- month baby. Court sources said, Asma Begum ( 30), wife of Samsuddin Mia at Dorommondle village under Nasirnagar upazila in B’baria district came at Boalmari Upazila Health Complex outdoor for treatment her baby. At the same time Mamtaz Begum, age 28, wife of Md. Nurul Islam at Durgapur village under Muksudpur upazila in Gopalgonj district came the same place for treatment her child also. Asma Begum stole the golden chain of Mamtaz Begum tried to fled away in the crowed tactfully. Police arrested Asma inassistance of local people said Ashok Kumar Biswas Sub Inspector (SI) of Boalmari thana. Then the mobile court sentenced her (Asma) 10 days non-rigiroous jailed.
Bird hunter fined in Alfadanga
A mobile court fined one thousand taka to a bird hunter named Mahabub Sardar ( 20) , son of Ziaur Sardar at Nagarkanda village under Gopalpur union of Alfadanga upazila in the district. The mobile court was conducted by Alfadanga Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Mohammad Abul Khair on Tuesday (03.11.2015) morning. UNO said, the young man hunted 15 birds including Dove, Pigeon and Martin with poison trap (Bishtope). So, he is fined under Wild Life Conservation Act 1974. Moreover the young man make oath not to hunt any bird in future.
