Training on agri held in Dupchanchia

A day- long training on improving agriculture sectors was held at Bangladesh Rural Development Board (BRDB) hall room recently. Sub-assistant Botany officer of Adamdighi Agriculture Office Md. Hossain Ali presided over the function. Speakers at a training session said, poor and marginal farmers need training on how to grow more crops relating to the improvement activities of government institutions for grooming up their latest knowledge on the agriculture sectors. Ensuring implantation of the training programme in the field level Alhaj Taibur Rahman, Chairman of Bangladesh Fertilizer Association (BFA) spoke in the function as a chief guest while Deputy Director of RDA and Enamul Haque Rana, Secretary of BFA spoke as special guest showing different advantages of training before the farmers participating from the remote village of the area. They said, farmers should come forward towards ensuring the optimization of the system of local government with people participation.
Sanitation Month observed in Manikganj

Manikgan’s Ghior Upazila administration and Public Health Department with the assistance of BRAC WASH programmme jointly arranged a colourful rally and discussion meeting to mark the National Sanitation Month-October 2015 at Upazila Premises on Wednesday. Ghior UNO Mahbuba Irin chaired the function where Ghior Upazila Chairmen Khandaker Liyakat Hossain was present as chief guest. Among others, BRAC WASH Manager Shafiqul Islam, Programme Organiser Prodip Kumar Sarker, Md. Shahidul Islam, Md. Yeahia spoke at the function. The speakers said present sanitation coverage of the upazila is satisfactory. It should be continued.
Stone trader robbed of Tk3 lakh in Sylhet

Muggers took away Tk3 lakh from a stone trader after beating him at Alipur in Osmaninagar upazila on Tuesday night. The victim was identified as Shutatar Miah,30, son of late Mobarak Hossain of the village. Witnesses said a gang of muggers swooped on Shutatar when he was returning to his house from his workplace carrying the money at about 10:00 pm.As he tried to resist them, the muggers beat up Shutatar and made away with the bag containing the money. Later, local people took him to Sylhet Osmani Medical College Hospital.
4 Jamaat-Shibirmen held in M’bazar

Police arrested four Jamaat-Shibir men from Saha Mustafa Academy in the district town yesterday morning. Police said the arrestees are Sadikur Rahman, 50, former president of Moulvibazar Poura Jamaat and Shibir activists Tuhin Ahmed, 22, Tanvir Ahmed, 25, and Siddiqur Rahman, 29.On a tip off, a team of police from Moulvibazar Model Thana conducted a raid at the academy at about 6am and arrested them, said Nazma Begum, assistant sub inspector of the police station. Police arrested them on charges of different subversive activities, she said.
