Criminal held with five bombs in Jessore

Police in a drive arrested an alleged criminal along with five bombs from Chachra Raipara area in Sadar upazila on Sunday night. The arrested was identified as Chanchal Rahman, son of Hossain, a resident of the area. He is accused in several cases filed with Kotowali Model Police Station. On secret information, a team of police conducted a drive at the residence of Chanchal at night and arrested Chanchal with the bombs, said sub-inspector Sheikh Shoab Uddin, in-charge of Chachra Police outpost. However, sensing the presence of police his two other associate fled away. A case was filed with the Kotowali Model Police Station under the Explosive Substances Act 1908.
11 hotels, restaurants fined in Sylhet

A mobile courts of Sylhet District Administration in separate drives fined 1 hotels and 3 Pharmacy Tk 20 Thousand in the city on Monday. The mobile courts fined the hotels and restaurants for lacking fire extinguisher, running business illegally and serving foods in unhygienic environment in Mirboxtula in Sylhet City. Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate Nilofa Akther conducted the drives assisted by members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB). The fined hotels and restaurants include Chief Rate Hotel, Shahriour Pharmacy, Talukdar Pharmacy, Alamin Pharmacy.
National Sanitation Month , Global Hand Washing Day observed

The National Sanitation Month and Global Hand washing Day 2015 were observed in a befitting manner here in Rangpur recently. On the occasion, Divisional Commissioner’s office, and Department of Public Health Engineering (DPHE) jointly organised various programmes including rally and discussion meeting. The theme of this year is ‘Sanitation for All, Ensure Healthy Lives.’A colourful rally was brought out from the premises of the Divisional commissioner’s office in the morning. Divisional commissioner Delwar Bakht inaugurated the rally which paraded the different streets of the city and ended at the same place. Deputy Commissioner Rahat Anwar, Additional Deputy Commissioner(Revenue) Mostain Billah, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Gen) Dr. ATN Mahbub, Primary Education D D Mohiuddin Ahmmad ,Executive Engineer of Public Health Engineering Department Al-Amin also took part in the rally among others.
Muggers stab trader, loot Tk 7 lakh
Muggers stabbed a trader and looted Tk 7 lakh in Barutkhan area in the city on Sunday afternoon. The injured were identified as Shamsuddin, son of Abdus Salam, a resident of Khalail village in Companyganj upazila and owner of Ferdous Stone Crusher at Salutiker. Police said a gang of 7-8 riding 3-4 motorcycles swooped on Shamsuddin when he came out from a Dutch Bangla Bank booth after withdrawing the money around 3pm. The muggers stabbed him and took away the money. Later, he was rushed to MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. Sohel Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Kotowali Police Station, confirmed the incident.
