Fake stamp seized, one held in K’ganj

Law enforcers caught one person red-handed and recovered fake stamps and court fee worth Tk about 2 lakh 7 thousand 6 hundred from Kaliachapra Bus Stand in Pakundia on Wednesday evening. The arrestee was identified as Md. Rafikuzzaman (40) S/O. Late Baser Uddin, village Barachapa under Monohordi PS under Narsindi district. A case was field in this connection with Pakundia Police Station. He was sent to district jail.
One jailed for theft in Puja mandap
TANGAIL: A mobile court here sentenced a man to six months’ imprisonment for theft at a puja mandap in Mirzapur upazila on Thursday. The court , led by UNO Masum Ahmed, sentenced Ujjal Miah to six months imprisonment for theft in Dijani Club Puja Mandap. Police said accused Ujjal Miah, 30, son of Fazal Miah of Kodalia village under the same upazila, was caught red handed by locals while he was stealing at Dijani Club Puja Mandap under Palpara village yesterday. Later, Ujjal Miah was taken before the mobile court of Masum Ahmed by police, reports BSS.
10 BNP, Jamaat-Shibir men held in Rangpur

Police arrested 10 leaders and activists of BNP, Jamaat-E-Islami Bangladesh and Islami Chhatra Shibir from different places in the district yesterday night, police sources said. The BNP-Jamaat-Shibir men were arrested for their alleged involvement with various recent terrorist and subversive activities like hurdling petrol bombs on passenger buses, killing innocent people and other crimes. The arrested persons are BNP activists Suman, 26, of Kotwali Thana, Tazul Islam, 30, and Nazrul Islam, 32, of Pirgachha upazila, Jamaat leaders Abul Kalam Azad, 40, Hafizur Rahman, 45, and Azmarul, 40, of Kotwali Thana, Abu Taher, 50, and Muslim Uddin, 55, of Mithapukur upazila and Shibir activists Mohibul, 19, and Murad Hossain, 26, of Kotwali Thana areas.
One held, 60 kg ganja yaba tablets seized in Shariatpur

Police arrested a drug peddler from Jazira and recovered two private cars, 60 kgs ganja and 100 pieces of yaba tablets from his possession on Wednesday night. The arrested was identified as Shohag Mollah son of Halim Mollah hails from Maniknagar Mollakandi village of Jazira Sadar upazila. On secret information, Jazira thana police conducted a raid at Jazira Sadar area on Wednesday night and arrested Shohag Mollah along with 100 pieces of yaba tablets. According to his confessional statement police also recovered two stolen private cars and 60 kgs of ganja from a jute field near his house. A case was filed with Jazira Thana in this connection.
2 muggers beaten up in Sylhet

A mob grabbed two alleged muggers and beat up them severely foiling their attempt to snatch handbag of a woman at Sobhanighat in the city on Thursday night. Police later took the duo into custody. They were identified as Rubel Ahmed, 22, son of Billal Mia, and Rubel, 23, son of Atar Ali of Kuchi Dakkhinpara in Dakkhin Surma upazila. Foyez Uddin Fayez, second officer of Kotwali Police Station, said two muggers on a motorcycle intercepted a rickshaw carrying a couple while it was crossing Sobhanighat kitchen market area around 11:30 am. Later the muggers tried to snatch the handbag of the woman. When the woman cried for help, locals caught the muggers and gave them a good thrashing, leaving them injured.
