Businessman run over by microbus
MAGURA: A businessman was killed as a microbus ran over him in front of bus terminal on the Magura-Dhaka highway in the district town on Wednesday night. The deceased was identified as Atiar Rahman,60. Witnesses said a Dhaka-bound microbus ran over Atiar in the area while he was crossing the highway at about 10:00 pm, leaving him seriously injured. Atiar was rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital where attending doctors declared him dead. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to the hospital morgue for an autopsy. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Asaduzzaman Munsi confirmed the incident. A case was filed in this connection, reports UNB.

On special raid at various point of 8 Upazila under jessore district Police arrested 101 accused including Jamat- sibir activist on Monday night. Police of concerning area made special raid and arrested 101 accused on terrorism cases. Police confirmed the information and said that the arrested were send to jail on Wednesday.
Teenage boy electrocuted
A teenage boy died from electrocution at Barandali village in Keshabpur upazila of Jessore on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Saju,15, son of Ayub Ali, a resident of the village. Locals said Saju came in contact with a snapped electric wire while he was repairing the wire in the area at about 7:00 am and died on the spot. An unnatural death case was filed in this connection.
Man held with 56 ltrs of liquor
MUNSHIGANJ: Members of Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) in a drive arrested a man along with 56 litres of liquor from Akbarnagar area in Sirajdikhan upazila on Wednesday evening. The arrestee was identified as Mohammad Khokon Miah, 42, son of Yakub Mollah, hailing from Bardi village of Narayanganj district. On secret information, a team of the elite force conducted a drive in the area in the evening and arrested him along with the liquor, said Mohammad Idris Ali, DAD of CPC Munshiganj camp of Rab-11. Police also seized liquor worth Tk2,000, reports UNB.
BCL leader sent to jail in Magura
MAGURA: A court here on Wednesday sent a leader of Bangladesh Chhatra League (BCL) to jail after rejecting his bail petitions in seven cases filed against him. Senior Judicial Magistrate Imtiajul Islam passed the order when the district unit BCL leader, Tushar Sheikh, son of Ahmmad Sheikh of Molla Para of the district town, appeared before the court seeking bail in the afternoon. Officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station Asaduzzaman Munsi confirmed the matter. Tushar was wanted in several cases, including for terrorism, extortion and torching vehicles, the OC added, reports UNB.
