8th founding anniv of Daily Somajar Kotha celebrated

The 8th founding anniversary of local daily Somajer Kotha was celebrated in Mirampur on Wednesday evening. On the occasion, a function was held at local Press Club . The function was presided over by Press Club founder Prof M.A Razzaque, UNO Kamrul Hassan attended as chief guest while A C (Land) Kamruzzaman, O.C Tharul Islam, Press Club President SM Moznur Rahman,Sujon President Prof.Abbas Uddin, Former president Arun Kumar Nondon, Library sectary Lect.Abdul Hoque spoke as special guest. Among others it was addressed Prof.Abdul Alim,Prof.Boran Uddin Zakir,Prof.Babul akthar,prof.Sajedur Rahaman Litu and Younus Ali.The ceremony was conducted by host Press Club Secretary Mothaher Hossain Dustu and moderated by SM.Siddik.
Museum science seminar held

National Museum of Science and Technology and Kishoreganj District Administration jointly arranged a seminar on the rule of National Museum of Science and Technology to build up with students at Local Collectorate Conference room on Sunday afternoon. Curator of Museum Seience Kazi Hasibuddin Ahmed presided over the seminar. Deputy Commissioner GSM Zafarullah attended as chief guest. It was addressed among others by D.D of Local Government Emdadul Haque, ADC (General) Tarefder Md. Akter Jamil, Assistant Curator Mohsin Mollah, Magistrate Farhana Ali, Principal Professor Ramash Chandra Roy, Senior Journalist Alam Sarowar Tito and Principal Rafiqul Islam.
College teacher held for human trafficking

Kotwali police on Saturday night arrested Abdus Sobhan, teacher of Islamic History at Monirampur Women’s College in Jessore in a human trafficking case filed against him. The teacher was arrested from his Jaljhara village based residence at night, said the police. Abdullah – al- Mamun, son of Sheikh Jahurul Haque of Ramnagar village under Jessore sadar upazila told journalists that he managed to flee from the human trafficker before the miscreants attempted to send him to a country through the Bay of Bengal. ‘Hafizur Rahman Raju, son of Abdus Sobhan, earlier, took Tk 15 lakh from him in front of his (trafficker) father for sending him to England.’ A case was lodged with the court of Jessore District and Session Judge on October 13, 2015. The police arrested the college teacher in the case.
One electrocuted in Sylhet

An auto-rickshaw driver died from electrocution at Rajnagar village in Dharmapasha upazila on Sunday night. The deceased was identified as Manik Miah, 35, son of Lalfor Ali, a resident of the village. Golam Kibria, officer-in-charge of Dharmapasha Police Station, said Manik came in contact with a live electric wire when he was plugging the battery of his auto-rickshaw at his home around 7pm. Later, he was rushed to Dharmapashu Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
