BGB seizes Tokhok in Benapole

Border Guard Bangladesh men recovered a total of 11 Tokhok (reptiles) of rare species from railway station area under Benapole port police station on Saturday afternoon.
Lieutenant Colonel Jahangir Hossain, commanding officer, 26 Border Guard Battalion told that tipped off the BGB personnel seized the Tokhok (reptiles) raiding at railway station area on Saturday afternoon. Sensing the presence of BGB personnel criminals managed to flee leaving a cage with 11 Tokhok (reptiles) of rare species, he added.
Dead body recovered in Rampal

A decomposed and unidentified dead body (40/45) contained in a plastic bag was recovered from Ransen-Betkata burning place area by the side of Khulna-Mongla Highway under Rampal Upazila in Bagerhat district by the police of Rampal PS on Friday at 11 am. The dead body was sent to Bagerhat morgue for its autopsy after the preparation of a spot investigation report of the same. M. Rafiqul Islam, Officer-in-Charge of Rampal PS said that a dead body contained in a bag was recovered on the basis of information of the locals. It is guessed by the police that the dead was perhaps, killed by some miscreants 4/5 days ago and they left the body there. Sign of injuries was noticed on the dead body.
Train crash kills man in Rajbari

A sexagenarian man was crushed to death under the wheels of a running train in Panchuria rail station area of the district town yesterday morning. The deceased was identified as Abdus Samad Sheikh,60, a resident of Andharmanik village in Goalanda upazila. Family sources said a Doulatdia-Poradah shuttle train crashed into Abdus Samad Sheikh around 8:30am while he was crossing the rail tracks, leaving him dead on the spot. Later, the railway police recovered the body and sent it to Rajbari Sadar Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
Fake RAB man held

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) held a man for allegedly impersonating RAB officials from Islampur area of the city on Saturday night. The arrestee was Sharif Ahmed, 28, sacked BGB personnel, a RAB press release said. A team of RAB arrested Sharif from Islampur area around 11pm on Saturday while he was cheating people by impersonating them as RAB official, RAB-9 said in the press release. Later, he was handed over to police. A case was filed with Shaporan police station in this connection.
2 wild elephants killed in Jamalpur
JAMALPUR: Two wild elephants were killed at a frontier village in Dewanganj upazila of the district on Saturday night. According to police the wild elephants were electrocuted at the village Makhanerchar under Dewanganj upazila in the district about 500 to 700 yards inside Bangaladesh territory from the Indian boarder at around 9:30 pm. Police said the wild elephants come down from Balughat hill tracts in Meghalaya state of India in Bangladeshi territory for food, reports BSS
