Reckless truck kills minor girl

A minor girl was killed as a rashly-driven truck ran over her at Beltali in Sadar upazila on Saturday morning. The deceased was identified as Asha, daughter of Alal Uddin of the village. Police said a speeding truck ran over the girl in the area around 7:30 am while she was crossing the road, leaving her dead on the spot. Informed, police recovered the body and sent it to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy. Agitating local people blocked the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway for an hour protesting the accident.
Madrasa student beaten by teacher

A student at a madrasa in Rajshahi city was grievously injured as his teacher allegedly beat him on Friday night, as he wanted to go to bathroom. The injured was identified as Asadullah Al Galib, a class VIII student of Terkhadia Masjidul Abrar Madrasa and son of Moslem Uddin, a resident of Shyampur area of the city. The victim’s father said Emran, a teacher of Terkhadia Masjidul Abrar Madrasa in the city, beat Galib mercilessly as he wanted to go to bathroom at about 11:30. Hearing scream of Galib, local people rushed to the spot and rescued him. Then the mob gave the teacher a good beating and handed him over to police. Injured Galib was admitted to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital. Galib’s father also said that he would file a case against the teacher for beating his son. Officer-in-charge of Rajpara Police Station Mahmudur Rahman confirmed the incident. After filing of the case against Emran, he will be produced before the court Saturday afternoon, the OC added.
Training programme inaugurated

No. Gohalbari unions were took part in the training. Abul Hayat Md. Rafique, UNO of Bholahat was present as the chief guest. Md. Shafikul Islam, Principal (Acting) of Mohbullah Degree College and Mustari Begum, Head Master of Nekjan Girls High School ware present as special guests. Md. Majibur Rahman Khokon, Assistant Director of DIIT presided the inauguration program of Learning and Earning development training Program under ICT division.
7 jewellery shops looted
MUNSHIGANJ: A big robber gang looted gold and silver jewelleries from seven shops at Dighirpar Bazar in Tongibari upazila of the district early yesterday morning. Officer in-Charge of Tongibari Thana Alamgir Hossain, quoting witnesses, said around 40/45 robbers came to Dighirpar Bazar on the bank of the Padma River at about 2 am and looted the shops. The robber gang took control over the entire market at gunpoint and entered seven jewellery shops owned by Sudhir Majhi, Liton Ghosh, Shangkar Sarker, Bishnu Pal, Firup Chittonia, Milon Das and Laxman Das. They also beat up the staff of the shops and night guards of the Bazar. Police have launched a drive to arrest the robbers, the OC added. The amount of the jewelleries looted could not be estimated so far, reports BSS.
