15 Bangladeshis, 1 Indian held at Benapole border

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested 15 Bangladeshi nationals and one Indian national while they were entering the country through Putkhali border point here on Sunday night. The arrested Bangladeshis, hailing from different areas of Narail, Bagerhat and Barisal districts, were returning to the country after going to India illegally. The Indian national was Khirsho Sarkar, 17, son of Rabi Sarkar, resident of Kalinagar village of Nadia district. BGB sources said a team of the border guards conducted a drive on Sunday night and arrested them while they were trying to enter the Bangladesh territory valid documents. Sujit Kumar, sub-inspector of Benapole Port Police Station, said a case was filed in this connection.
10-day BNCC training practice begins in Rajshahi
RAJSHAHI :A 10-day training practice of one and two Mohasthan Battalions under Mohasthan Regiment of Bangladesh National Cadet Corps (BNCC) began at the playground of New Government Degree College in Rajshahi city on Sunday. A total of 262 cadets of senior, junior and women divisions from 29 educational institutions in Rajshahi, hapainawabgonj, Natore and Pabna districts are taking part in the training.Besides, some army officers, territorial force officers, professor under officers and teacher are participating at the course. Main thrust of the training is to enhance moral and mental strength of the cadets along with equipping them with discipline and leadership characteristics. Principal of New Government Degree College Prof Zarjish Kadir, who inaugurated the course as the chief guest, urged the cadets to involve themselves in the nation building activities in a disciplined manner by making the good use of the knowledge they gained during the training.Besides, he said the BNCC members could play a pivotal role in protecting the country’s independence and sovereignty, reports BSS.
10 houses gutted in Panchagarh
PANCHAGARH: At least 10 houses of seven families were gutted by a devastating fire that broke out at Borodhap village under Boda upazila of Panchagarh district last night.
The fire originated from the kitchen of a house of one Farook and soon engulfed the adjacent houses of the village.On information, the Fire Service from Panchagarh rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control with the help of locals. Paddy, rice, jute and furniture were completely reduced to ashes by the fire, reports BSS.  
2 held with Indian fake currency in C’nawabganj

Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB)-5 in a drive arrested two persons with 300,000 Indian counterfeit notes from Dadanchak area under Shibganj upazila of the district on Sunday night. The arrested persons were identified as Md. Moinuddin, 30, son of Md. Nurtaj Ali of Raghabbati Parchowka village and Md. Helal Uddin, 20, son of Md. Hasan Ali of Monakasha Sonarpara village under Shibganj upazila of the district. Acting on a tip off, an operation team of the elite force from Chapainawabganj camp, led by the camp commander ASP Alok Biswas, raided the Dadanchak HM High School area under Shibganj upazila and arrested them with fake currency. In primary interrogation, they admitted their involvement in fake currency business of different countries, the RAB sources said.
