On the occasion of the Eid-ul-Azha, National Poet Kazi Nazrul Islam University will remain close from September 20, 2015 until October 01. The classes , examination and offices will be opened on October 4 , said SM Hafizur Rahman,Deputy Director (PR), the Vice-Chancellor’s Office National Poet Kazi NazrulIslam UniversityTrishal, Mymensingh.
Pirojpur AL president Akram dead
PIROJPUR: President of Pirojpur district Awami League (AL) Advocate Akram Hossain Khan died at his residence yesterday morning. He was suffering from old-age complications. He was 78. Akram was also Pirojpur district administrator. He left behind his wife, two sons, one daughter, relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death. He will be laid to eternal rest at his family graveyard after a namaz-e-janaza there yesterday. MP of Pirojpur-1 Alhaj A K M A Awal, president of the District Ainjibi Samity Advocate Alauddin Khan, secretary M Delwar and leaders of different organizations and parties condoled the death of Akram, reports BSS.
3 held with Yaba tablets in Sherpur

RAB-14 in a drive arrested three persons with 265 pieces of Yaba tablets from Darbar Char area at Nakla upazila in Sherpur district on Tuesday. The arrestees were identified as Md Samsuzzzaman David(38) son of late Golam Sarker , Md Riad Hassan(27) son of late Nazrul Islam , Md Nahid Hassan Robin (19) son of Md Nizam Sarker of Darbar Char area in Nakla upazila of the district. On secrete information a team of RAB-14 led by company commander additional police super Md Tajul Isalm raided the area and caught them red handed. A case was filed in Nakla thana in this connection.
30 injured in Barisal road crash

At least 30 people were injured when a bus slammed against a boundary wall at Rupatoli on the Barisal-Patuakhali highway in sadar upazila on Friday. Local people said the accident took place in the area around 8 am when a Barisal-bound bus hit a roadside tree after slamming against the boundary wall of Sonargaon Textile Mills as its driver lost control over steering while getting down from Shaheed Abdur Rab Serniabat Bridge, leaving 30 people injured. Police and fire service men rescued the victims and rushed them to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital, said Pran Krishna, sub-inspector of Kotwali Model Police Station. Of the injured, 27 were rushed to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital while the rest three were given first aid.
Construction worker electrocuted
MADARIPUR: A construction worker died from electrocution at Sheikhpur Bazar in Shibchar upazila on Thursday. The deceased was identified as Sagar Molla,18, son of Sarwar Molla, a resident of Pashchim Banshkandi village of the upazila. Witnesses said Sagar came in a contact with a live electric wire when he was working on an engine-run boat in the area in the afternoon. Later, he was rushed to Shibchar Upazila Health Complex where on-duty doctors declared him dead. Officer-in-charge of Shibchar Police Station Abdus Sattar Miah confirmed the incident, reports UNB.
