BRAC exchanges views on safety road

BRAC, a leading and NGO of South Asia organised a view exchange meeting with journalist on “Safety Road Communication Programme Advocacy for Social Change” h at its Kishoreganj Regional Office in the town on Tuesday noon. BRAC PSRC Manager Md Moishur Rahman presided over the meeting. It was addressed among others by District BRAC Manager Md Bazlur Rashid, Md Aktarul Islam, CAB President Alam Sarowar Tito, Senior Journalist Subir Basak, District Press Club President Mustafa Kamal, Journalist A.K. Nasim Khan, Sangbadik Unit President Figul Hoque Golap, Journalist Saifuddin Ahmed Lanin and Ashraful Islam.
Aminul Haque scholarship distributed
Some 24 meritorious students from Gurudayal Govt College in Kishoreganj have been awarded Aminul Hoque Education Trust Scholarship for their outstanding academic performances. Aminul Hoque Education Trust organized the scholarship distribution function at Kishoreganj Collectorate Conference room on Sunday afternoon. Disaster Management and Relief Secretary Md. Shah Kamal attended as Chief Guest while DC S.M. Gafarullah presided over . It was addressed among others by Joint Secretary of Disaster Management and Relief Ministry Md. Mohasin as special gtuest, Zilla Parishad CEO Md. Anisuzzaman, Vice-Principal Fazlul Haque Sagar, Press Club President Kazi Shahin Khan, Bar President Adv Shah Azizul Hoque and Associate Prof Azizur Rahman. Secretary Shah Kamal urged the students to extend support and co-operation to their family members as well as the society.
5 shops gutted in Sylhet

Five shops were gutted in a devastating fire that broke out at Jointia area at jointia Thana under Sylhet district Monday. Officer-in-Charge (OC) of jointia Police Station Tarikui Islam said that the fire originated from electricity short circuit at around 11:00pm at a shop in the area and soon engulfed the adjoining two other shops losing goods worth Tk around 32 lakh. On information, locals and fire fighters units rushed to the spot and extinguished the flame at around 4:30am, the OC added.
Indian visa center to start at Barisal

Indian Visa Application Center managed by State Bank of India will start functioning at Barisal, Rangpur and Mymensingh from Sunday. Pinak Chakraborty, country head Bangladesh Operations of State Bank of India, issuing an invitation letter, informed this. He said the centers would be simultaneously inaugurated by Pankaj Saran, High Commissioner of India to Bangladesh, in an inaugural ceremony scheduled to held at 11:30 AM Sunday on first floor of North City Super Market under Barisal City Corporation in Amrita Lal Dey Road of Barisal.
