Minor girl killed in Sirajganj road crash

A minor girl was killed as a human hauler ran over her on Belkuchi-Ullapara road in Saldair Mahmudpur area in Belkuchi upazila on Tuesday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Riya Sutradhar, 3, daughter of Bijoy Sutradhar, a resident of the area. Police said the accident took place as the human hauler hit Riya while she was crossing the road around 3:30pm, leaving her dead on the spot. On information, police recovered the body. A case was filed in this connection.

6 shops gutted in Morrelganj

Some 6 shops were gutted when a big fire broke out in Chairmaner bazar under Khawlia Union Parishad under Morrelganj Upazila in Bagerhat district on Monday noon.
Locals and Morrelganj fire brigade sources said that the fire originated from an electricity short circuit in a battery-charge shop belonging to one Mahbub of the bazaar and it spread to its adjacent shops within a short time and went out of control.
 The local people tried their best to extinguish the fire, but in vain. By this time a fire brigade unit rushed to the spot from Morrelganj and brought the fire under control with the help of the local people.. The affected shop keepers are Mahabur, Kalu Gazi, Tofazzol, Sanowar, Sultan Faraji and Homeopathic physician Ganesh. The loss of fire is estimated at Tk.10 lakh.

BNP founding day observed in Kishoreganj

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) celebrated its 37th anniversary on Tuesday. On September 01, 1978 late President Lt. General Ziaur Rahman founded the Nationalist Party wooing leaders and activists from different parties with 19-point programme to build a self-reliant Bangladesh. BNP Kishoreganj district committee arranged discussion, rally and cake cutting marking the day.A discussion meeting was held at its office on Tuesday noon with District Committee Vice-President Md. Amiruzzaman in the chair. It was addressed among others by District General Secretary Md. Mazharul Islam, Baher Miah, Shihab Uddin Ahmed Farhad and Student Leader Syed Nasimul Hoque Rasel.
