Gonosangit utsab held in Jhenaidah

A two- day greater Jessore district Gonosangit utsab was held at Jhenaidah Paira Chhatra of the district town. The function was initiated by Bangladesh Gonosangit Shamonnay Parishad. Golam Kuddus, Sammilito Sangskritik Jote-central vice president inaugurated the festival on Thursday evening while pro-vice chancellor Dr. Md. Shahinur Rahman of Kushtia University attended as chief guest. Jhenidah poura mayor Saidul Karim Minto and Jessore district Sammilito Sangskritik jote–president Harun-ur-Rashid were present as special guests. Convener Sukumar Das of greater Jessore district Gonosangit utsab, presided over. Six cultural organisations participated in the utsab: Jhenidah Bangobandhu Shishu Kishore Mela, Narail Sangskritik Jote, Jessore Nritya Bitan, Bihango Jhenidah, Tirjok Jessore and Dhaka Gono Sangeet Dal. Veteran singer Monjur Kader of Jessore and Imamgir Biswas of Dipyan Sangskritik Jote Jhenidah performed solo songs.
Day labourer slaughtered to death in Jhenidah.
Some unidentified terrorists slaughtered to death a day labourer at Siddi village under Shailkupa upazila in Jhenidah on Sunday night . Police have recovered the body from a wheat plot of the village field on Monday morning. The deceased was identified as Moien Uddin, 45 son of Ekdil Biswas of the village. He was a day labourer. Dead’s brother Rofiqul Islam said, he had been missing since Sunday evening when he went to Amtala bazaar. Locals found his body laying a wheat plot of the village field on Monday morning at around 9:30 am. On information police recovered the body and sent to Jhenidah sadar hospital morgue for an autopsy. Office in charge (OC) Mollah Monir Uddin said, it is a pre-planned murder. They are trying to nab the criminals. A murder case has been filed with Shailkupa police station in this connection, the OC added.
Quiz completion for students on road safety held

A day- long quiz competition for the students on road safety awareness organized by BRAC ‘s Road Safety programme and Advocacy for Social Change was held at Bagata Islamia Dhakhil Madrasha premises on Monday.
Mamunul Huque Afrad ,Chairman of the Managing Committee of Baghata Islamai Dhakhil Madrasha attend the function a chief guest with Principal of the Madrasha, Sirajul Islam in the chair. The function was addressed among others by BSS Narsingdi District correspondent Mahmmad Ahu Taher, Manager Promoting Safe Road Project and advocacy for Social Change, Brac Mashiur Rahaman and Social Communicator Parvej kairi. A total of 110 students of the Madrasha took part in the quiz competition. After the quiz competition a demonstration and an animation show on road safety awareness arranged for the students. Besides an oath on the road safety was also arranged for the students. A total of six hundred students of the Madrasha took part in the demonstration and animation show on road safety awareness. Later the chief guest handed over the prizes among the best ten competitors of the quiz contest.
