Cop arrested for killing wife demanding dowry

A police personal was suspended and arrested on Thursday allegedly for killing college-girl wife demanding dowry at Kawnia branch road area of the city. The victim was identified as Suchana Aktar, 18, second-year higher secondary student of Shaheed Abdur Rob Serniabad College and wife of Imam Hassan, a constable of Barisal Range Reserve Force. Md. Shahidullah Chowdhury, commanding officer RRF Barisal, acknowledged the suspension and arrest of accused constable Imam Hassan. Ali Hossain, father of the victim, lodged a murder case against six accused including husband and in laws with Kawnia police station and police arrested husband Imam Hossain, said Kazi Mahbubur Rahman, Kawnia police station officer in charge. Inspector Selim Reza, investigation officer of the case, said after recovery on Wednesday night, dead body of the victim sent to Barisal Sher E Bangla Medical College morgue for autopsy on Thursday.
2 BCL cadres held for looting petrol pump
Two BCL cadres were arrested on Friday morning after looting petrol pump and injuring staffs demanding toll at Shaora on Gounadi -Poisarhut road of Barisal on Thursday night. Police arrested two BCL cadres and listed terrorists of the area named Hira Bepari and Razzak Bepari, two siblings, on Friday morning. Among the injured two staffs of the Saint Peters Filling Station Khalilur Rahman, delivery man was admitted at Gournadi upazila health complex and Ponurdhan, cashier, given first aid. Akhtar Hossain, manger of the filling station, said he lodged a case in this connection with Gournadi police station against 11 accused. Police on Friday morning arrested two of the 11 accused and trying to nab others, Sub Inspector Ahsan, duty officer of the police station said.
One killed in accident in C’nawabganj
One person was killed in a road accident at Chakla Kolabari area under Shibganj upazila in Chapainawabganj on Thursday morning. The deceased was identified as Bodiuzzaman Bodi, 50, son of Dukhul Uddin of Chakla Palashbari village under Daipukuria union under Shibganj upazila of the district. Police and local sources said, as Bodi was going by a bicycle, a Sonamasjid bound truck coming from the opposite direction hit him killing him on the spot at 10-30 am. The killer truck fled away. Being informed police recovered the dead body.
World Breast Feeding Week observed in C’nawabganj

The World Breast Feeding Week – 2015 was observed in Chapainawabganj district. The week started on August 1 and continued till 7 instant with the theme ‘Breastfeeding and Work-Let’s Make it Work.’Chapainawabganj municipality brought out a colourful procession in the town on Thursday in observance of the week. After the procession a discussion meeting was held at the conference room of Chapainawabganj municipality. It was arranged by Chapainawabganj municipality in association with Urban Partnerships for Poverty Reduction Project (UPPRP) of United Nations Development Programmes (UNDP). Chaired by the panel mayor of the municipality Moslema Begum the meeting was addressed by executive engineer of the municipality Sadequl Islam, councilor Sharifa Khatun Baby, Abdul Momin, medical officer Dr. Md. Waliur Rahman, Manager of UNDP of UPPRP Project Md. Dilsad Ali and president of the Community Development Centre (CDC) Town Federation Munira Begum.
